YES definitely

I was asking because there are two different SKUs for this exact same unit. I guess I will ask the seller to see what the difference is. will let you know

Enforcing it is another story. Check all cell phone booths, local shops, online auctions etc... Everywhere is full of Chinese transmitter with FCC sign on them but absolutely not complying with their rules. I do travel a lot on the highways and I can listen to the country song that's playing in the 18 wheeler coming from the other direction, at least for 4-5 seconds. That happens a lot!

In for one - $8 is worth the risk. I have tried one other lesser brand and it didn't work with a 5th gen Nano. This one should.

I have heard people saying that when you plug this Fm transmitter into an old version Iphone it gives a warning like "not supported" but after you ignore the warning, It works perfectly fine. I'm in for one too !

I've been using another model. Lx/Dx switch really helps to improve the signal quality. I wonder if this one has it too.. great deal otherwise.

finally pulled the trigger because my old bare-bones Belkin FM transmitter is kaput. Surprisingly, it had extremely good performance here in L.A. where radio stations generally overpower iTrips et al.

Figured if nothing else, I'll have an $8 Griffin PowerJolt. Surprised that the merchant has sold so many refurbished units though. #1 That's a bit alarming and #2 it really undercuts sales of new $30+ iTrips.

AusTex Deal Seeker said:   REFURB. OP, if an item is a refurb it is customary to list that IN THE TITLE OF THE POST -- it looked like a good deal but then I got out there and saw that it's someone elses headache. I know you're new to posting, plz learn this lesson early; many of us won't buy anything if it's refurb or has rebates involves.

Bought two. Thanks.

Like several of the other Griffin iTrip fm transmitters, this unit can be switched to international mode, which opens up the option to use frequencies lower than 88.1. No US radio stations can broadcast on frequencies lower than 88.1, so now I don't have to worry about interference!

To switch this unit to international mode, press and hold both the plus and minus (+ and -) buttons at the same time. If you hold it a while, it will give you the option to switch between LX and DX modes (stero and mono). If you keep holding the plus and minus button longer, it will give you the option to switch between US and international modes.

So I have a question ... Does the car they sell in US have radio receiver going below 88.1 Mhz?

I got sick of all the hissing noise in the background, figured FM route may be better. Any comment on cassette vs. FM?

I think for most people, cassette is slightly better. Hissing is annoying but should be mitigated by Dolby noise-reduction (I assume most tape decks have Dolby NR).

FM transmission sounds good when it works well but for many people, interference is a big problem. I was shocked when a cheap Belkin FM transmitter worked well for me in L.A. on frequency 88.7 . I bought it a long time ago expecting little.

I use the tape every day with pandora paid and it works for me ! I have everything going at once maps, pandora, etc. I'm happy

Thanks OP. My mother-in-law's car doesn't have an aux in port, nor cassette player, and has been looking for a charger so this will solve both her problems.

My old car, 02 Toyota Avalon's factory stereo could go down to 87.9. German cars' doesn't go below 88.1 but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a way to change it to European or Japanese mode.

Yes, these units also have LX and DX modes. One of them is a stereo mode while the other one is mono. When you broadcast in mono mode, the signal is supposedly double strong. It was obvious in the black itrips for older ipods.

Got it today. You can change to international mode. I tried on my Corolla 2011, car receiver has frequency starting 87.7. I changed the Griffin to international mode, set the transmitting frequency to 87.9. Tuned in the radio but it had good static on that frequency even on DX mode. Tried on 88.1 on DX mode and no static at all.

How is the sound quality with this? If its good then is a bargain

Sounded much much better than using the stereo auxiliary cable. Good bass and treble.

Also compatible with iphone 4s. no warning about incompatible device.

But the price went up to $19. Good for everyone who got this deal.

Well it seems like they have bumped up the price by a dollar. Just checked it. Should I edit the topic to reflect that?

My 2000 Honda goes down to 87.7 . Just received the iTrip and it works fine on 88.7 (like with my old Belkin transmitter). Very slight scuffing on the back, but otherwise looks in good condition. SmartScan initially came up with 99.7, but there was a little interference on that frequency.

A big plus is the dock connector obviously charges, but also gives you a good line-level output. For my old FM transmitter that attaches by 3.5mm mini-plug to the headphone jack, I'd always have to amp up the iPod's volume setting. (I'm pretty sure you have the same problem with a cassette adapter.)

This works on iPOD Touch also ?

Yes, according to Griffin's website it is compatible with iPod touch all generations:

iTrip Auto (2008)

Recieved mine today and it works great with my iPhone4 in my area...I am ordering another for me now...Wife took the first one

I have received the item. It works GREAT ! Even though the price went up a little bit, it is still the best deal !

I've never posted but thought this would help. Got this today. works great with iphone 4s. international mode works perfectly with stereo on 87.9. plays pandora.

I had one of these, here is the issue. U plug it into the cigar lighter female and when you hit a bump, there is a momentary disconnect and then u lose the connection to the FM radio and you have to go through the process again of tuning it...all while you are driving!

Either yours is pretty loose or the bump was huge! Never had such a problem.

fyi for anyone that wants to switch it to international mode to get to the lower frequencies, hold the "+" and "-" button for about 20 seconds until it flashes to "US", then press the + sign to switch to international. Should open up some clear frequencies!

Thanks. Got one. I get good reception at 87.9 in my area

I was just wondering did anybody have an issue with an older iPhone software/firmware with this product?

Mine worked great with iPhone 4...Daughter stole the first one so wife needs another...

Just bought a generic from china ... but this was too good to pass up. What the hell, I have more than 1 car

I don't think it is a good idea to plug $2 device to your $600 iPhone. They are unlicensed products and might cause permanent damage to your iPhone. One of my friends burned his iPhone's GPU that way. So beware!

Now it's $7.95 with free shipping. Pretty Good deal.
