Your friend does have to sign up as a paying member though.

OP the red isn't to you, it's to the deal. You should get a lot more then that if you have a friend sign up. There are lots of deals to be had with gym memberships and my best was what I did years ago thanks to FW...

To anyone interested...I met two FWers years ago in Fremont, CA and we made an appointment with one of the sales people that we wanted a 'group' membership deal. The two guys I was with only wanted the one gym membership so they paid very little (something like $49/yr back then). I knew better and wanted all clubs which I had. Today I pay $99/yr for all clubs and I'm now living in LA.

I'm not saying you can get the deal I had but I would think you could do something similiar if you were going to join, see if there are other FWers that want to do the same thing and have the power of group buying. They want the business so negotiate. It's worth it.

Personally I've been a member of 24yr fitness for close to 18 yrs (when they were a different name) so I have a great rate which in my view is part of what I pay to keep myself healthy. If only there were cheap gym memberships for all as part of ones health insurance.

But either way, don't let a pushy salesman give you a lousy deal. You can go to any of their clubs and talk to anyone you choose.
