I love my 11.6", and hopefully the Prime did work out the kinks in the original. Keyboard (touch), keyboard backlighting, and touchpad. I know how to type, but sometimes you need to locate an F key or something in the dark.
It won't look as slick as my metallic keys, but oh well.

Amazing resolution for a 13" display (I'm a pixel junkie). Need more than 128gigs though and I bet the HDD is some proprietary junk. Also, IMO it's a mistake to buy a laptop that isn't touchscreen. Windows 8 will heavily rely on the touch function. Perhaps waiting for the Asus touch version of the Zenbook Prime is a good idea (or just wait on the Surface to surface).
Green anyway.

In this Anadtech article they tear down a UX21A Zenbook Prime and it had a Sandisk U100 drive with a proprietary connection.

"The standard SATA spec calls for a 7-pin data interface and a 15-pin power interface for a total of 22 pins. The ASUS Zenbook/Zenbook Prime SSD features a split connector with 12 pins on the larger portion and 6 on the remaining - I assume for power and data, respectively. The MacBook Air SSD on the other hand has a 12 + 2 pin configuration, with a large power, ground or non-connected pin occupying the remainder of the smaller part of the connector. It's always possible, albeit unlikely, that both ASUS and Apple settled on the exact same pinout for their interfaces, thus making these two form factors electrically compatible but with slightly different configurations. However if you line up the two connectors you'll see that there are physical differences that preclude using one in lieu of the other:"
Interesting to know!
7.9 Windows Experience score for my SSD. I guess I have adata. w00t!

ehhh there's a wide range of i5 processors. 15.6" Lenovo at fries for under 600 with a very decent i7 2670qm, but it's obviously not an Ultrabook.

That was with a pre-release version, reviews since the official release have indicated they switched to a better ADATA drive. Still proprietary though, so going to be a bitch to upgrade if you want more space.

I'm going to have to be convinced about the whole touchscreen on a laptop thing. Unless it is a convertible that can switch to a tablet, I find it hard to believe reaching up to touch the screen is ever going to be more efficient or intuitive than using the touchpad. Not to mention I abhor fingerprints on my monitors.

I bought this and returned it. EVERYTHING and i really mean everything was perfect. except the touchpad was total crap. Thats why i retuned it, as i dont want to pay 1500 (i bought the i7 version) and be handicapped by a bad touchpad.
Anyway, just a warning as this thing is awesome except for one BIG handicap

That sucks but good to know. Does it support gestures like two finger scrolling like the MacBook Air?

Only if it had 8GB. 4GB is not enough. Especially when nothing is upgradeable.

It is low, but I only use these machines when traveling.
Kind of a higher end netbook.

Amazon has the UX31E-DH72-RG for $1199 with prime shipping. I just posted a thread about it in hot deals.
I'm waiting for the UX31A models to come down a lil bit, otherwise I would have bit the bait on that RG model. i7 with 256ssd for 1199 . I want the 1080p screen and backlit keyboard.
