Beat it by using better freeware, and not having to spend money, and wait for CashBack.
But its a great deal for those who use it.

Although it appears very quick to scan and has a small, light footprint, it's not particularly cheap and doesn't appear to be that good at detecting new threats. The facility to protect an Android device may be useful, but is becoming de rigueur for new internet security suites from most suppliers. We'd advise against using the tidy-up function.

How nice of them...
(for those who can't read between the lines; if you participate in this deal, immediately cancel the automatic renewal and make a note to yourself to check your credit card statement at this time next year)
And even better, when you get to the part of checkout that lists the tax and the subscription service that you can't opt out of, when you close the window, you'll get an email in a couple hours from Webroot asking why you didn't complete the purchase. They already have and are using your contact information
While most of the free virus scanners are adequate, there are some much better proprietary solutions here in the hot deals forum.
Also, isn't this a duplicate of this thread that was moved to deal discussion?

Just chatted with them and looks like not all states are charged sales tax. None in California. Hopefully I don't have to worry about auto renewal on the prepaid card.

IMO the best possible setup you could have is the 3 below. All FREE and stable.
You only need to turn on your Windows firewall to compliment the above 3 and you'll have great FREE security. True FW style. I have included some links for you to read at your leisure, in regard to above software.
Should make you aware that the above AV is a Beta version, but is running well for most by all accounts. There is a case for having no AV on your computer these days. Sandboxie is just so good a program, you may feel AV is not necessary. But, if your kids use your computer, probably better to install it.
Enjoy.

Enjoy.I'm sorry, but I can't agree with your support of kingsoft. They regularly rank very low (example) compared to the others when it comes to new threats/malware. Additionally, they weren't even considered for the most recent round of tests by av-comparatives because of lackluster scores last time and no application to be tested again from the company. Always be skeptical of these Chinese companies that pop up trying to sale free software (IE: kingsoft office = LibreOffice) as their own. It usually shows that they don't care about innovation, but more about ripping off those who are truly innovative.

Hello squinky. You are fully entitled to your opinion. But, if you had read the discussion links, i think you will find Kingsoft are extremely innovative, by involving the very sharp minds at Wilders Security. The contributors at Wilders are some of the best in the security business. IMO the COMBO of the four recommended FREE software to Alex ruiz cannot be beat. Just my opinion. Have a great day.

1. Av comparatives and vb100 tests over time will show you the pattern of successful, top ranked av.
In this case, Avira Free would be among the best free av.
Paid programs like gdata, etc score better, but also keep in mind NONE of these offer 100% protection!!!
Coupling an av with a HIPS firewall (ZoneAlarm, comodo , etc -see wilders forums) can significantly improve protection.
Finally, virtualized browsing (sandboxie, VMware thinapp, etc) can reduce penetrations even more.

oh, duh. And run Firefox with AdBlock plus turned on, no ads, no popups, private browsing mode with Prefbar installed and checkmarks off for Javascript, flash, plugins, cookies, and referral (turn on only when necessary).
Amazing how many exploits simply fail using this Firefox setup!

If I wanted to buy a large amount of licenses, could I do so and still obtain the 100% CB? The terms seem to only restrict CB on CDs and on renewals. These would all be new licenses. It doesn't appear that there is a way to add more than 5 3-year licenses to your cart though.

I would also like to know this. Has anyone done either a large purchase or multiple purchases and still receive the Cash Back? The terms don't say we can't, but I wanted to make sure.

Licenses are tied to your purchasing account and are activated at the point of purchase. Buy as many as you want, but don't expect to be able to resell these.
