Needed an upgrade and have wanted the Samsung Galaxy S II for a while now. Our local WalMart checked the price (sign showed $49.99 and it came up .10.) I decided to upgrade another line but our store only had one in stock. I called around and it seems all the Walmarts have them at this price. It still shows $99.99 on the AT&T website, BTW. I hope this helps somebody else to get this awesome phone at TEN CENTS!
Edited to add: Yes, this is an upgrade price with a 2-year extension. (Thanks, tek2k!)

They all live back in the day when you could get a phone for -$75 and have a $300 rebate in addition for signing a 2 year contract.

Get the S3 since it's at the beginning of it's life cycle, and in 2 years you can sell it for.more than an s2 and use the money towards the cost of a new handset.

Most people with basic financial skills buying phones like this one with no contract and switching to all-included $45 a month plans. It is trendy these days and if he mention no contract I would expect no contract.

Calculation, checked. How's about analysis? You calculate the money, yes, have you done calculating the risk? or worst case? If yes, go for it. If no, start doing it now. "$45/month with unlimited", you need to re-think the term "unlimited" there. I hope you understand that "no contract" also mean they can kick you out at anytime they want. No contract means they can increase the price anytime they want. Uh, they have NOT done yet, but that doesn't mean they will NEVER do so. Alright, there are just some points to think before step into the game. I hope people well prepared and fully understand what they are in.

You are right about the term "unlimited". But for risk and worst case… Do you read your "Wireless customer agreement"? They can terminate your service for bunch of reasons, and they can change any terms, conditions, rates, fees, expenses, or charges regarding your Services at any time. Same to you "Uh, they have NOT done yet, but that doesn't mean they will NEVER do so." Please update your risk calculations accordingly.

+1
The same goes for either prepaid or postpaid.
They can, they might, and they do terminate, throttle, and charge additional fees.
I don't know why these people are playing 'maybe' games.

i'm so confused....why did this thread take such a wrong turn with prepaid?
EVERYONE knows that prepaid phones aren't subsidized and therefore, never cheap or free (for the good ones like the GS2) so can we get off the topic of prepaid - there's an entire thread here dedicated to the Straight Talk plans - GO LOOK FOR IT - there's a BIG BOX at the top of the screen that says SEARCH FOR COUPONS, DEALS, & Stores....get to know it!
