How to find the rebate with student ID?

hanoi98 said:   How to find the rebate with student ID?

info here

It does not show the rebate with student ID. All are the expired ones.

hanoi98 said:   It does not show the rebate with student ID. All are the expired ones.

that's because you likely have to show the ID and they generate the rebate form at the register or email it to you online.

call 1800 3 Staples and ask how to do it for online orders. you may need to send them a scan of your photo id.

I just called Staples, the rebate form will come in the shipment and then probably have to follow up with the ID

What is the
workaround for a non student
And why should Staples care who buys it?

Academic pricing?

Toshiba Satellite R945-P440
Can someone help me evaluate whether the above Toshiba is worth the $ compared to the Dell.
It appears lighter at 4.2 lbs, faster with 3rd generation i5 processor, 750GB HD and 11 hour battery life.
Yeah, I know the final price is 549 vs. 399 but is it worth the $?

I found a workaround.
A trusted relative has a .edu eMail addy.

I think the rebate form requires photo id to claim rebate by mail. Not sure if easy rebate doesn't require this mailing as well. 60 days from purchase postmark.

My method has the rebate going to the relative.

you mean the postman will want id?

no, but don't you have to provide ID FIRST to have the rebate validated? how is that accomplished with an online order??

As long as rebate includes valid id, you are good as long as the relative is somewhat trustworthy! I didn't see any mention of edu email required. MC, any thoughts on value of Toshiba mentioned above?

I think valid id must be mailed even with on line order.

my personal feeling is, nice machine, but $499 would be the max price to make it "hot". maybe a $50 laptop coupon will magically appear this week. If one of those comes out, then yes, worth $100 more, but not $150.

OK, not edu for this.
Id yes.
My Staples will accept me giving the student id for the relative.

I still fail to see the rationale for giving a student a lower price.

ps- remember, this Dell has been as cheap as $349 on some previous deals. I'm using the $499 price point compared to the $399 price.

I do remember the $349 Dell as well.
I am using one.
I sold most without the extra cover, I still have 14. all blue and as of yet not listed them.
Wish it were back.
The only issue was the limit 5 per, had do some workarounds for that.....

I don't get that.
They can always just make more.

June rewards are available.

Marketing! There are often different offers and different prices for different groups. Often the same or similar deal is offered to various "groups" but each may feel they're getting a special deal. Sometimes a "deal" is volume generation, sometimes a "deal" is payment for use of a group's endorsement, and sometimes it's both or other. Did you ask why FW purchases can get a discount through the site? There are very good sellers and there are very bad sellers and both can use various marketing techniques. Now, did you really need to refer to "sleazy" or did you really mean that "the sleazys" get some extra discounts

yesidonoitall said:   I still fail to see the rationale for giving a student a lower price.

Brand loyalty. Apple has been giving educational discounts for ever. Hook a kids on your OS and products and you keep them for life. At least, that's the theory.

yesidonoitall said:   I still fail to see the rationale for giving a student a lower price.

So that that they buy your product for life. And so that they push for your product from their future employers, or choose to purchase your product for business use when it's their call. It's the same reason (very expensive) licenses for software packages are given free/cheap to universities.

Any product should have one price....

Locally car dealers, furniture and other retailers have police day or whatever day.
They offer the deal to all who ask.....

The Toshiba laptop has the specific rebate with student ID, but I could not find the similar one for Dell. I receive mine today but no rebate form included. Anyone found the rebate for the Dell, please show me. Thanks
