not too bad of a price for this ups. the model is j25b and it can output 865W for 3 min according to Amazon, just to save someone else some time

Good price, and living in Houston where we get frequent severe storms and the occasional hurricane which cause power fluctuations, this is invaluable in itself to protect equipment. The UPS functionality is very handy as well.
This model that is being sold, the J25B does NOT do AVR - it will not correct for high/low voltage situations. The higher end model J35B which is not the one being sold does this.

Are you sure it doesn't do AVR? I was thinking about jumping on this, but if it doesn't do AVR then i wouldn't buy it. The spec page at the APC site seems to say that it does have AVR:
