I have received free subscriptions for Maxim before, and my subscription just ran out in June. Might be worth it to wait and see if another free subscription is available.

Don't know exactly how it happened, but I've been getting it free since at least 2000. Mine expires in December, 2013.

Yeah, we do them a favor by letting them give it to us for free and get their subscription numbers up. In return we get to look at boobs for 2 minutes before we throw it in the trashcan.
