You will be able to instantly earn and redeem points for thousands of items in store and online and receive exclusive savings. Balance Rewards will include many of the best aspects of existing loyalty programs and have distinct features that competitors do not match, including:
• Members can earn points for making healthy choices, such as getting an immunization or participating in Walk with Walgreens (walk.Walgreens.com).
• A lenient, customer-friendly expiration policy – points will not expire as long as members remain active by shopping at Walgreens at least once every six months and redeem their points within three years. • Members may earn and redeem points for both in store and online purchases.
• Exclusive benefits for AARP members.
Register Rewards will continue in its current form for the foreseeable future. Register Rewards is a couponing program while Balance Rewards is a comprehensive loyalty program that offers exclusive savings and the opportunity to earn points and instantly redeem rewards.

Really love New Balance, but what does Walgreens have to do with footwear?

It seems that this is similar to the test program they ran few months before in some test areas. It not even good as register rewards. The points in test program were very low compared to Register Rewards in offered in non test areas for the same item in weekly ad.. I almost stopped shopping at Walgreens during test program.

the difference is, they are now going to DO BOTH. you can do the RR's and this program as well. during the test, they penalized the areas doing this program by "taking away" the rr's. at least that's what I'm hearing.

When you put your foot down, it might hit something it used to miss. You might trip and fall. Sore toes and minor injuries are a good reason to go to Walgreens.

Just love the Walgreens shoe dept. Remember when all they carried was $2.00 flip-flops? Now they have the complete New Balance line and every size and width you can imagine.
Do you get Balance Rewards on anything other Prescriptions, immunizations, etc.? I am in one of the states that won't get these BR on presceiptions.

They had points on all regular purchase items but were very low(including few rr item they still had in test areas). They replaced rr with points on sale items and they were very low compared to rr in test area. I hope they will not kill rr slowly in favour of points. Also they do not have any rebate this month.

They'll most likely kill the register rewards because of people exploiting that program. Buy item, get register reward, go to other store and return item, keep reward. They don't have any real way of tracking which transactions printed out which rewards, so people would take advantage of stuff like that.

Is there a limit on how many points you could earn for the same sale item? For example, in this week's ad, you earn 1000 pts when you buy 2 ID gums. Can you buy twice and get 2000 pts with same balance reward card? Same question for RR?

I purchased the gum at 2 different times and got 1,000 points 2x. Now I also purchased $14.99 in Revlon and only got 2,000 points. I wonder if I buy 1 more item will I get another 1,000.

If theres a limit, your BR card will only give you bonus points up to the limit. But you will continue to get sale price. So the water max bonus points is 1500 this week because limit of 3. But you can get 5000 points unlimited everytime you buy $15 in coke products.
