Feit Dimmable 60 Watt Omni Direction LED for $6.99 at Costco:

I bought two of these and they are very bright and work really well in a lamp with shade. The problem with my other LEDs are that they are much more directional. They work great in the fixtures that they are in, but they aren't really good for lamps.

Why bother? CFL does the job with 1/10 of the cost.

I purchased 20 from Costco. Much better looking that the CFLs. Also, they don't need to warm to full power/brightness like CFLs. So far I ma very please with them.

They have several advantages:

-- instant on
-- dimmable
-- longer life
-- you don't need a hazmat team when they break

I had 10 CFL globes (11W) installed over the mirror in my master bathroom. One broke, so I replaced it with a 5W LED bulb. I was shocked when I turned the lights back on. The LED went on immediately, whereas the CFLs were still dim. They eventually came up to the same brightness as the LED over a few minutes. It felt like I'd been living in a house with 5 foot ceilings and didn't know what it felt like to live normally, until it did. I ended up replacing all the globes with LEDs.

I've now replaced most of my lights with LEDs throughout the house. Give them a try. Put them up against the CFLs in your house and see which you like better.
