Staples - Get your money back on your old tablet when purchasing Win 8 Tablet

In the upcoming Staples add, there is a recycle deal if you trade up to a Windows 8 tablet. Usually, these aren't the best deals, but given that some tablets were cleared out or discontinued, there is an opportunity to get your money back if you want to try something new. (I am talking to you RIM and Touchpad owners). WHile this deal is not for everyone, some people can benefit.

Q. I have received a revised valuation for my old Tablet which I do not agree with, what can I do?
A. The promoter’s decision is final when it comes to revaluations. We assess each Tablet which is sent to us honestly and fairly using an industry specialist.
If you do not agree with the valuation we can arrange for your Tablet to be sent back to you, however there may be a charge for administration and postage and your claim for a prepaid Visa cash card cancelled.

Q. How long will it take for me to receive my prepaid Visa cash card?
A. We endeavor to provide your Visa card within 30 working days of a validating your claim, however please allow up to 5 extra days for postal delays. We do not validate any claims until we have received and tested your trade in Tablet to confirm it matches the description given and the qualifying criteria.

Hardly "get your money back"

Careful with your choice of Windows tablet. The least expensive ("RT" model) won't run traditional Windows apps, only store-supplied touchscreen apps. And that store won't have much variety of app choices for some time.

There are far greater app choices for that HP Touchpad when running Cyanogenmod 9.

But it's good that Microsoft is pulling out many different stops to attract the tablet buyer. That might mean competitive tablet prices before the trade-in credit.

If you are in the market for a Win8 tablet, BB Playbooks can be had for ~$100; bit of work, but saves ~$50.

My 32GB Touchpad is still worth more than that. A 16GB TP maybe...

Yeah, it makes so much sense to sell a 10in tablet for $100 and then get a 7in tablet for five times that.Well, I was mostly commenting on just that the 'reward' value they're offering doesn't seem commensurate with the Touchpad's real value. I have a 7" Nexus too. It cost more, is easier to hold on to, is faster and more responsive than the older TP. The Touchpad still gets used as much as the newer Nexus 7 in our house. Partially just because of it's larger screen, but also because it's a really good device (esp. with Android loaded).
