I thought the initial downside of these was the proprietary cable (on the drive end). As a reviewer pointed out, it's a USB 3.0 Micro-B cable which are available several places for ~$5

yesterday got the same from Staples for $56.xx +tax after applying 20% off one item. Was on clearance for $68.xx. There were 2 of them on the clearance shelf.
