Pentax recently dropped the K-01 price by $200 (originally $550 for the body only). The K-01 inherits the K-5's highly regarded APS-C sensor, considered one of the best on the market in image quality. It's the first mirrorless cams that employs an APS-C sensor and is compatible with existing DSLR Pentax K-mount lenses. It'll even work with ancient manual focus Pentax lenses. While some may lament the loss of a viewfinder, mirrorless has the advantage of no mirror slap (no shake incurred from the slap, more reliable) and instant large LCD real-time preview. Not for everyone but some find it appealing.

B&H Photo has dropped the price of the K-01 body to $317 and the kit with 40mm pancake to $417 (depending on the color). LINK
Adorama prices have fluctuated, dropping during BF/CM, returning to Pentax pricing, now back down to $317 & $417, matching B&H's. CashBack for Adorama. LINK

BTW, for people not in the loop, this is a pretty fantastic deal. I highly recommend spending $100 extra for the pancake lens. The lens retails for $250 on its own. You can easily sell it for more than $100 if all you need is the body. This camera isn't going to win any sleek awards next to other mirrorless systems, but it's also a full APS-C sensor. You're basically getting a K-5 without the viewfinder and some of the dials for $300.

This really is incredible pricing for a camera with this image quality. It uses a full-fledged DSLR sensor that's among the best in the industry. In some ways it's the convenience of a P&S without as much hassle as a DSLR, but image quality vastly superior to any P&S or even bridge camera.
Last night Amazom had the yellow K-01 kit with 40mm pancake for $317 !!! Yeah it's the gaudy yellow but I jumped on it anyway. Was getting ready to post it but the price went back up soon after. It's on backorder and I'm hoping beyond hope that they'll ship. Keep an eye on Amazom's pricing just in case.
