I have been shopping on and off for the last 6 months for carpet/flooring to replace what I have in certain rooms of my home. I looked at hardwood, vinyl planks and semi-premium carpet, but all were cost prohibitive (at least on a single income).
In the last two weeks, I've noticed that certain Lowes have spools of 'In-stock' carpet that has been discontinued or that they are low on stock and dont expect more. Walk past their fancy displays and check the very back 'wall' of the store.
Last night, I pulled the trigger on some they had plenty of, and wanted to share with those on FW that their local stores may have a decent selection as well. Most were regularly priced at $1-$1.50 sq ft, and now are clearanced for 1/2 to 1/3 of the original price. I confirmed that the 10% coupon (recent post here..search) should also apply, and purchases over $599 are eligible for their financing offer.
Pic attached of one of one example of what I found in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area...

Thanks for the heads up, I will have to check the local Lowes' stock. Looking for new carpeting for a family room.
Anyone know the installation fee for one room?

Right now, they're running $37 basic install for carpet; They add $.17/sq ft for removal and haul off of old carpet/pad, plus $.10/sq ft to move furniture around.
Their padding ranges from $.48 to $.90 for the pad itself. With the above information, you should be able to do back-of-the-napkin calculations.

Windows, Apple's OS and Android all have this really cool calculator app.
It allows you to do multiplication-- even of fractions!

Stairs is lot more expensive.. 24 stairs each around 2ft wide will use up 1000+ sq ft as per Lowes add to that labor, padding and all the overhead

Good points, Irf.
Also, general rule of thumb is to order 10% more carpeting than you need if your installers are extremely competent and the rooms it's being installed in don't have a ton of angled/weird walls and offsets, or 20% more than you need if your installers are not as competent and/or the rooms it's being installed in have a ton of angled/weird walls/irregular shapes.
