I agree as I have personally seen McAfee fail to prevent infections on two computers that previously had Norton after both owners went from Comcast to U-Verse.

Also, the last 2 McAfee products I bought had a card inside for another $20 rebate for signing up for Always On. You don't have to install the software.

Hasn't happened to me, but several people on other threads have reported it happening to them. The rebate is invalidated with the message, "your rebate submission did not pass our audit process" or something like that. At least one person reported they were able to get their rebate validated "as a one time courtesy" after getting that rejection.

Words in the rebate form say, "Rebate amount paid to customer for single or combined rebate offers may not exceed the purchase price of the McAfee product." So, I think I'll end up getting only $46 back. (Glad I used the $5 coupon to make my price $41.)

Got the download version and my receipt didn't include sales tax. Hope they don't add it later or my expected rebate will go down by another $3.57. <$49 less the rebate terms that say purchase price only = $46, less $3.57 tax = $42.43, less $41 price = $1.43 profit, plus 3% credit card reward (1.38) = final rebate of $2.81. Oh well, positive numbers are always good.

Be careful, coupons are not allowed to be used with Downloads per Staples T&C's....they can remove your $5 coupon, and then it's not that great a deal.

ditto, about 20-30 infections it failed to prevent on my kids computers, my in-laws computers, and my neighborhood friends. At first MalwareBytes was the savior of these “MacAfee protected” computers but Malwarebytes lost its potency against recent infections. HitMan Pro was the savior more recently, from url surfright.nl.
Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows-Defender are free and better. Still not much better than MacAfee as I have seen at least one root-kit infection with those also. At least Microsoft Security Essentials warned me about the root-kit though. But it was unable to remove it. Used trial HitMan Pro to remove it then.
Not sure about Norton never tried it.
After all my experience with malware I'm running Microsoft Security Essentials. But I would run HitMan Pro - surfright.nl, if I wanted to pay for it. Trial good enough for 30 days and one virus removal. I will not use MacAfee again anytime soon as I've seen too many infections while it was installed.
