I am pretty sure if you upgrade to any of the newer smartphones you will be bumped into the $35 plan.

Does anyone think the Iphone 4 on VM will come down to $199? Is that crazy talk?

This is not as good a deal that Radio Shack had before the 5th. Before that they had it for $299.99 with $10 off for every $50 you spend in coupons. Total price $249.99. Also you had 6% back on Fatwallet on some days.

I think this is a better deal, for me.
Those $10 coupons are not easy to use. You can't buy VM airtime with them and you must use them in separate purchases. I guess you could buy a bunch of batteries.
Those coupons may be a Godsend for others.
I do see part of your point though: this phone should continue to drop in price in the near future.

Can you still buy this phone from VM directly using funds in your account? Since you can still get refill cards at about 25% discount in eBay, it seems this phone would cost about $230 instead. Did that change?

You can buy phones with your cash balance. However this deal is at Radio Shack while the VM price is like $330. 25% off of that would be around $248. You'd need to add the cash over 3 days since the per day max is around 150.
