I can't get more details right now or a direct link as the site is swamped!
Update: it seems that Adobe were not releasing free software after all. A message on the Adobe support forum indicates that the download page was meant for photographers who bought CS2, but needed to reactivate it. The download link has now been disabled. Here is what the Adobe forum says:
"When trying to activate your Creative Suite 2, Acrobat 7, or Macromedia products you may receive an error that the Activation server is unavailable. As of December 15th the activation servers for these products will be shut down...
... To remedy this difficulty we have made available a version of these software titles that does not require activation. For additional details and specific links to the software please see..." #
Two things: 1. CS2 is 7 years old, it would have been an interesting signal to the software community if Adobe released the files under some sort of permissive license; and 2. I would hate to be the IT guy who did not protect this directory with a password
sorry, didn't look for it there thought it was definitely a freebie, not a hot deal
Free Stuff FAQ
What is NOT free stuff?
Always-free stuff that everyone knows about (like air). Evil stuff like spam, referral programs, pyramid schemes, etc. Stuff that requires you to pay shipping, which could end up costing more than the value of the item. Free stuff worth more than $10 …because that’s a Hot Deal!
I was not able to download using IE9 (tried numerous times), but was able to download using chrome browser (first time with no problem). Just a FYI.

All the backdoor links with valid serials are over on SD if they still work. Installed Photoshop and Acrobat Pro less than an hour ago with no issue.

It's free and the 2005 edition. It may not be 100% compatible with your current OS. But it is free.

This isn’t fake, and it is effectively free, so it would seem, but apparently not what Adobe intended. This thread is a repost; search for the other thread (or several other sources on the internet) for more info.

It was reported to the mod staff as a repost; while they didn't lock it (they just moved it from FS to HD), they did put a mod comment under the OP that links to the OP that was in HD, but was moved to 'Expired Deals'. No idea why it wasn't locked and also moved to 'Expired Deals'. So no need to search, just go to link in the Mod Comment under OP. There is 4 pages of discussion on that thread, and links to other sources for those interested in what happened.
