Hoping they release a Windows desktop app and Android app soon.

The issue seems to be original link posted here is http rather than https . Correct site should have been https://mega.co.nz/ which is accessible. Thanks

Best and most reliable option is Skydrive.

Hopefully they don't use US servers that would put them under US jurisdiction (like MegaUpload).

We are a dedicated group of technologists who were given the time, opportunity and Internet access to build an awesome cloud storage service that will help protect your privacy. We have programmed this Internet service from scratch in Auckland, New Zealand. Unlike most of our competitors, we use a state of the art browser based encryption technology where you, not us, control the keys. Our design group includes Kim Dotcom, Mathias Ortmann, Bram van der Kolk, and Finn Batato. Our CEO, industry veteran Tony Lentino, has experience running a renowned global domain registry. We hope you like it.

Hell yeah. 50GB up and running. Was lightning fast once I used the https link.
Every other free service I've come across has been useless as they have a per file limit. So this sounds pretty good, hopefully it is up and running soon.

Make sure you read the Terms of Service VERY CAREFULLY before you register with this service.

i do see your point, as a matter of fact.. when weighing the pros and cons of all the cloud services, and i spent days researching to find the right one for me, the 2gb limit was the only con and thing i didn't like about db. i think it was the smallest of all that i researched.. i was like noooooooo.. i needed at a minimum a lil over 5gb for what i needed to use it for, but when i saw how quick and easy it was to increase the space for free, i went ahead and signed up. ( i know this doesn't compare to the op's mega post... ) but if you use someone's referral link, your account is immediately opened with 2.5gb.. a 500 meg bonus to start, then by using the camera upload feature and uploading 2.5gb worth of pic and videos you then get a 3gb bonus and are now at 5.5gb, then they have a task list for you to complete which gives roughly another free 1gb to be at about 6.5gb. i was at 6.3gb or so by the next day. from there, anyone you can get to signup for db gets you and them another 500mb. In theory, you can have roughly a 20gb account for free. yes i know it seems like a lot of hoops to jump through just to get the free storage to a realistic and useable level, but to me it was worth it to get the delta/incremental uploads and 30 day file revision/undelete history. you can literally see and restore EVERY version or edit of a file for the last 30 days

Well that's a vague anti-appeal to authority to start the day with.
If you're going to say something like that, back it up with a basis. Otherwise, you'll get something lame in response, like:
Make sure you read the Terms of Service VERY CAREFULLY to each document you ever sign/agree to.
Problem with MEGA is the servers are still jammed at 2 AM on the west coast and lagging from having to ping New Zealand. 50 GB of storage with no file caps is great, but useless if it times out.

Does this include syncing of files or is this just for uploading when needed?

I have a 25 gig account Skydrive account that was free for me when i got it and around a 6 gig Dropbox account that I use quite often. I also have a 50 gig Box account that I got for free also. Very happy with all. I am a bit leery about putting any stuff up at this new site.
EDIT: I did sign up for the heck of it, but never received a confirmation e mail.
