Price just dropped on Amazon, Newegg, and TigerDirect on this entry level network receiver (has been $349 or higher). I just pulled the trigger on this one as I need a receiver that can be stowed in the basement and easily controlled upstairs in the living room on my Android phone. You can also use an ir repeater (cheap on Monoprice) which should be easy to control with the hdmi on screen display.

If you hook this up to your router, can you play video on a computer in your network and have it go to the HDMI out on this receiver? If not, is there something else you can connect to this receiver to do something like this?

no, you will need a media playback device, at least for video files. I have a DLNA certified receiver, but it was only capable of streaming audio files.

Does anyone know if you can control this with your pc? Or, do you need an iphone or android device?
