I use something very similar in my side-by-side 'fridge. I think it's a bit shady that its always "replace every 6 months" rather than being based on usage.
We might run 15-20 of water through the water dispenser in the door every 6 months; That's pretty pricey for and almost equal to buying bottled/jugged/delivered water instead.
If the 'warning' would come on, say every 100 gallons, I think it's be more than adequate.

If the 'warning' would come on, say every 100 gallons, I think it's be more than adequate.most filters tell you to change certain number of months. i change mine whenever the light indicator in my fridge goes to red or until water doesn't come out anymore. it usually around 8 months or so. but i do stock up whenever these are around $20 a piece.
