The 500 lumen claim is actually pretty accurate, but obviously, it doesn't last long. Takes 3Cs.

I have one of the other 500 lumen from Home Depot during the sales in Nov/Dec 2012.

I picked up one of these newer 493 lumen models and depending on your tastes, you might like it better than the previous models.
The head is larger. The light seems to throw a bigger foot print from the larger reflector asssembly.

As with the previous model, no focus adjustments.
Everything is fixed as far as focus goes.


As with the previous model, the LED is a near perfect white. Just the ever so small hint of a yellow hue.
But for all practical purposes it is completely white.
