I was having same issue and came here to see if I am the only one. Thanks for the heads up.

Worked great for me using the FTP installer.

Note...when you first run it...it updates itself to the newest version. You can let it update...but very quickly (before update finishes) enter the code and it will work.

If you wait for the update to finish and install...probably won't work.

Fix worked fine for me -- Win 7 x64

Free Adobe acrobat 8 pro better than other s/w i guess. agree

^^ where is it free?

^^^
Never mind found it. But trying to use it on w8 64 bit would not convert pdf to a word document which is a function i so went back to expert pdf.

Installed, works great, get the update when prompted and it crashes and burns.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ #4311

Q I am receiving a EXTERNAL EXCEPTION IN MODULE KERNELBASE.DLL error when I launch Expert PDF.

Solution:
This problem can occur if the Liveupdate engine encounters a problem. To resolve this you update the Liveupdate engine manually. Please follow these instructions:

1. Click http://www.gspsupport.co.uk/media/patches/LUKernel.exe to download the update
2. When prompted Click on Save
3. Double-click on the file to launch it
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the update
5. Once the update has completed launch Expert PDF 8. You will be prompted that a product update is available.
6. Click on INSTALL
7. If any errors appear click on OK to accept them. The update will then install.

You will now be able to use Expert PDF.

what I did was on step 5 that did not work automatically..I had to click on update and it found and installed and worked great.

Thanks MC.
Also thanks to kafe1minh00'

Why so sloooow to convert to .doc?

Laptop:

Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
Office 2013 Pro
i7-3740QM
16 gigs @1600
Samsung SSD

Now waiting to open the same file (.doc) after conversion????

Should not matter that Office 2013 uses .docx?

Thanks Kafe1minh00! Just did a clean install and forgot to save the reg code when I downloaded the app in February. Google searched and found this thread. Appreciate your posting this workaround.

Hmmm. After the update, I can't even open the application anymore. Getting that Kernel error message.

it's free

and so is acrobat v8 (and all their other v8 products)

Where?

Never mind, I found it - http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html

Actually, that is only 7. Here's 8:

http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4683-adobe-acrobat-8-free.html

Given that none of the free (freeware or free after rebate) stuff allows me to edit text like Acrobat does, it's great to be able to have a legal copy on my machine.

I'll take this. Expert PDF 8 kept crashing after the kernel update. Thanks!
