Unfortunately that post is in "expired deals".  Its not expired...I see availability in 5 stores within 50 miles from me.

Sanyo shows IN STOCK at Poway (San Diego, CA) Wal-Mart. 46" at $228? Fantastic deal IF YOU GET A GOOD ONE. Lots of bad reviews. I'm leaving it there for someone else based on reviews.

I always felt like these lesser known display panel brands simply purchase B+ or A- quality panels from Samsung. Or do they manufacture their own panels?

In stock at my closest Wallyworld. Thanks OP!

good price but none in my area.  says select store, good luck !

Vizio isn't really "lesser-known" anymore. I'd have agreed with you a few years ago, but today they seem pretty established.

Not sure where you have been, maybe watching a tube TV somewhere:

  • VIZIO CONTINUES TO LEAD AS THE #1 SELLING LCD HDTV BRAND AND #1 IN SOUND BAR SALES FOR Q1 2013

Thank you!

Is this a good tv? I know it has good ratings, but are they good ratings for a cheap tv? or is it actually a decent tv? Sorry, the only LCD in my house is my computer monitor. This would be my first non-crt television, believe it or not, so I have no idea what to look for as far as refresh rates, etc.

Edited: okay, did a bit of basic reading - looks like this is a 60 Hz set, and since some find the difference noticeable during scenes with movement, I should probably consider at least a 120 Hz set if I'm looking for quality.  Still a heck of a deal, though.

I've had this set for about 4 months and am very satisfied.

Had a problem with a 60" Vizio and had the repairman look at this set while on-site.  Apparently I have a faulty cable connection so at times the picture isn't as sharp as should be.  But, he stated that this particular  42" Vizio is one of the best on the market.  From what he advised, Vizio doesn't mfg. their own components so a Vizio is generally a combination of LG, Sony and Panasonic components.

None in Vegas

What % of Wal-Mart stores even have the Vizio at the $198 price?

If one reads the much longer thread on the other site, I'd be surprised if 1 out of 100 do.

Available in Houston.

Hmm I feel I need to buy this, even though I don't need another tv.....

not available or sold out in CA Bay Area

In stock but $398 in my area.

That's not helping. Where is "my area"?

it is in stock in my local, but I give it up!

Those are bad reviews? Do you expect everyone to give if 5 stars?

There are 41 total reviews on Amazon; 12 appear to report unit failure within a year. I realize that people are more likely to write a review when they are displeased than when they are pleased, but still, that's 25% of reviewers. That's pretty bad.

Always remember that the "average customer review" is a worthless metric. In this instance, a 4-star average could mean 41 4-star reviews, which would be pretty darned good for a cheap tv, or it could mean 29 glowing 4- and 5-star reviews and 12 2- or 1-star reviews, which is awful.

Just because its a samsung tv, doesn't even mean its a samsung panel.  Even the same models may get different panels.

Consider that manufacturers consider a 12% failure rate acceptable as well as (like you said) negative experiences are much more likely to be reported. . If you look at the review distribution it's either 5 star or 1 star (very few 2 or 4 star). The issues are all different but most say they bought from some unknown company. Personally I would jump on this if one was available in my area as the WalMart and Amazon reviews look very common on good-quality TVs within the past couple years.

Please post it's a WalMart deal.

Dano

It shows up online as "in stock" at several nearby WalMart stores (South Florida), yet when I add it to my cart it says "Out of Stock" for every one of them. It does not let me order for "Site to Store" at any location.

I haven't seen anyone say they've actually gotten this deal. Has anyone? Just saying "In Stock" online means nothing -- I mean, did it let you check out for $198 and did you pick up the TV and have it in your hot sweaty hands?

Otherwise, looks like a price mistake / dead deal to me.

Keep trying !
I checked and re-checked my local [Roanoke VA] Walmarts maybe 2 dozen times today. All of them kept showing out of stock. Then at about 4pm, one magically appeared in stock at the WalMart Valley View. It came to $208.49 with tax. I have an email confirmation with an order number.

Holding out on this Vizio for now. Good price but waiting for the OLED's to hit this price range. Should only be a matter of time...

Thanks OP!  Finally had one in stock after nothing earlier.  Nice TV for my basement.

Thank you!
In for one, instock at one of my local stores, 209.88 after tax.

Now I can get rid of my last tube TV, in the office.
Ironically, that's the one I probably have on the most...

The Normal IL store has at least one in stock, as I was able to add to cart and proceed to checkout.  But since I don't need one, I've removed it from my cart, so it should be available for someone else.  Price with tax is $213.35.

Just got back from my local WalMart in Springfield (Delco)PA. Bought it today said it was available to be picked up. But they did not have it when I went to the store to opick it up. Both the saleperson and the manager confirmed that their inventory checker said they had 3 in stock but nobody could find one. Now I see that I got an e-mail saying it should be available for pickup between 10:00AM 9/2/13 and 10:00AM 9/16/13. So it seems I may get it tomorrow, 2 weeks from now or not at all lol. WalMart sucks everytime I order something online for store pick up there is a problem.

I placed an order for 1 from my local WalMart in Roanoke VA. About 4 hours later I got this cancellation email:

"Thank you for shopping with WalMart.com. Unfortunately, we've had to cancel the items listed below because they were not available in your selected store when we were preparing your order for pickup. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you are still interested in these items, they may be available for pickup at another WalMart store, or they may be available for home delivery."

I decided to call and talk with WalMart customer service, and while I was on hold with them I placed another order for the $198 TV at a store in Lynchburg VA.

I finally managed to get a customer service supervisor on the phone. He told me the first order was cancelled because they had no stock at that particular store. I asked him to call the Lynchburg store and check - as I had just placed the 2nd order for the TV at that store 10 minutes earlier. He finally came back on the line and admitted that none of the $198 orders will be honored or fufilled due to a "pricing error." I was offered a $30 discount off of a $100 or more order on WalMart.com "for my trouble and inconvenience."

They are wrong. I have gotten 2 of these and 2 46 Sanyos ($228) it's not a error it's just clearance. You have to find one.

I have a friend from IL who went to school in Normal (Illinois State) and lived in Pekin for good while (back in the 70's).

How are you guys able to order online? Mine shows limited stock at a store nearby but I dont see any pickup at store option?

Yeah I just got my cancellation notice as well. They said it was because they no longer had it in stock at the store I selected. This was even though they said it was available in that store when I purchased it. Plus when I went in to pick up my purchase the store assistant manager said her inventory checker said they had 3 but no one could find one. WalMart sucks

I once met a girl at the 9:30 club in D.C. in the late 70's. The B-52's were playing there when their hit Rock Lobster had just come out - she lived near Normal Illinois.

She had long legs - I sent her a clock.

P.S. - None of these TVs are available in the Baltimore - Washington area

I am very surprised at the picture for a lower end manufacturer. $39.95 for 3 year extended warranty from Squaretrade. So it doesn't kick in until after the 1st year. For $228 I'm not sure if I'll pull the trigger. Any thoughts? P.S. My 2nd name isn't Trump
