Maybe someone can let me in on the secret..why is it useful to have the black friday ad three weeks before time? Not complaining just wondering if i am missing something.

a few reasons:

many of the items that are already free after rr, become money makers when you use manu. coupons with them. Gives you time to acquire the coupons you'll need to maximize the deals.

Also, many of us hit multiple stores over the 2-3 period and it's good to know in advance who has what so you can plan your route and strategy. Some stuff may be very high on your list that you want, other items just ok, so you go for the "A" list stuff first before it sells out.

Quite a few other reasons, but those are my top 2 that come to mind right away.

yes, as long as the item is made by a different manufacturer. Typically a P&G RR won't roll on another P&G offer. you just keep swapping back and forth. Also remember, Walgreens requires you have as many items on your order as you do coupons, so for 1 item, you can't pay with BOTH an RR and a newspaper manu q.

It also gives us a chance to discuss the relative merits of the deals here on FW. Also, as Mister Cheap has done here, we can exchange methods to make a good deal even better.

So people can strategerize their shopping among many stores on black Friday.

I agree. Its all about strategy and list planning. I absolutely HAVE to get certain items on sale for my kids and then I can decide what less important stores to hit for ok deals. Thanks to fatwallet leaking the toys r us ad, I know where to get my 5yr olds gift!

ppanamared said:   Maybe someone can let me in on the secret..why is it useful to have the black friday ad three weeks before time? Not complaining just wondering if i am missing something.
Because it takes a long time for me to produce a shortest path and decision tree while also considering many factors such as gas price, crowd prediction, weather forecast, items popularity, etc.
I foresaw the 2008's recession after reviewing the Black Friday Ads in 2007, since I had no desire to buy any single item for the first time in my life, no mention there was no deal at all back then.

ppanamared said:   Maybe someone can let me in on the secret..why is it useful to have the black friday ad three weeks before time? Not complaining just wondering if i am missing something.
Because if you know ahead of time that there's a crazy-good deal upcoming, you might hold out until then on a non-essential but desired item. And for the other reasons mentioned.

As I really don't need any of their FARR items, I guess my best strategy would be to get several of the two MMs: the Gelusil Antacid and the Reach toothbrushes 2-pks. That way I can make a some extra dollars to buy something on sale that I could actually use.
