Introduction I would like to share the philosophy, methods, and practices that I use in reasoning and problem solving, and these methods cross into many areas, and can be applied to many fields as personal, business, or technical. The primary basis of the practice is to allow you mind to see all the possibilities and to coordinate what you have seen into a directed result or thought. The processes used involve using both your left and right portions of your brain, and synthesizing the interactions of the two.
The history of reasoning is based upon a single idea that was refined through many years. The Ionian culture was the first people to realize that any process one performs is based upon a organized method. From this premise, they were able to write down the rules for geometry, mathematics, logic, medicine, language, and music. The interesting point is that Renaissance was based upon the new acceptance of their premise and the finding of the books and papers. One person, Descartes, followed the Ionian premise and wrote a book on the problem solving method, "Rules for the Direction of Mind." This book was written when he was young man, but it was not published until a few years after his death for fear of the ruler's response. This fact shows reasoning was used as a weapon by an elite group of people. After his death, more people began to break the reasoning wall that rulers used over the ruled. As a result of this, new people began to explore reasoning. Babbage thought that if a process could be documented then it could be automated. To explore this, he decided to automate the calculation of various mathematical functions. In addition, he enlisted the help of Ada Lovelace to develop the method of translating human processes to machine processes, programming. Also, they realized that the analytical engine could be used to simulate various actions as opposed to only calculating various functions.
