8-10% price increase on Bear products after 3/31/14 per the classic newsletter.

2 cents. I have no dealings with MMC (Bear Creek), however... Classic Firearms has sent me exactly what they described, quickly... over several transactions. Very happy with Classic Firearms.

assuming it has an aluminum lower (not polymer) this is a great deal. kind of lame that is does not come with any kind of rear site, but for $40 you can add a carry handle†and be good to go.

EDIT - it says right in the specs it is a forged aluminum receiver.

Seems like a great deal. Too bad I don't play with guns anymore.

The reviews seem like they were all written by the same person

† I wouldn't call .223/5.56 a plinker, as maybe I would a .22LR.

lol these same rifles were selling for $2000+ just last year. †Now they are blowing out these entry level rifles.

You may not consider it a plinker... but I do. I have rifles with MOA of .5 that are .223, this is accurate enough for plinking and fun, but not real accurate shooting if that is your goal.

But then I also plink with a 9mm I have and a .45....

In for 2

At this point in time, given the scarcity of 22 ammo of any kind, .223 or 5.56 is plinking ammo.

Does any one know if this gun is legal in MA or this company even sells to MA residents? I have a class A LTC... Thank you!

Looks like when its specifically prohibited in a state, they list it in the AD
This handgun specifically says not for sale in MA.††

~when an individual wants to buy a firearm through the mail, they must have it shipped to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder. First, choose a local gun dealer or other FFL holder in your area and get their permission to have a firearm shipped to them from Classic Firearms. The gun dealer would then do the background check, and transfer the firearm to you in return for a small fee.

No, it is not.

Funny that entry level ARs are now less expensive than entry level AKs

How does this compare to the DPMS, which was also $499 AMIR a couple weeks ago.

From the product description:

"The barrels on these are made from 4140 cold rolled steel and are rated at a barrel life of approximately 150,000 rounds. They are very top end."

wait, what? Somebody must have been drunk writing that...or that 150,000th round is only accurate to +/-15 MOA at ten feet. So maybe...

First of, the picture is the wrong rifle. Second, you can get a DPMS Ar-15 for the same money and they are quality rifles. My dealings with Classic Firearms have been so-so. They are not professionals and have zero customer service skills. They even sent me once a rifle to my HOUSE!!! Not my FFL, to my HOUSE! I refused the box from UPS and it took them about a month more to finally get it to my FFL... What would you call that?

† DPMS are top quality IMHO.† I had one and it fired everything I fed it, including cheap Russian steel ammo.† Who knows really who Bear Creek is or if they will be around in the next few years.† Be always wary when they have to tell you a "story" to try to convince you that you are making a good choice.† They control the narrative, but you are unaware of the real facts...

good for those in the market for one

A friend of mine just received his, on Wednesday. Had a retired USAF buddy, who has built custom AR's for years now, check it out. They said it was a pretty damn good rifle for the money, and the only part of it that seemed cheap was the adjustable stock, which is easily replaced (if you desire).

Good buy, at this price, and only a couple days left to order it at this introductory price!

Yep, I've had nothing but good luck with DPMS. They get alot of slack because of their low cost because people are usually embarrassed that they spent hundreds more for the same thing and feel the need to brag about that fact while bashing everything else. Gun owners do not like to think their guns are cheaper than anyone else's. It's a bragging rights thing.
