4.6 out of 5 stars   (89 customer reviews)

Many people in the church today are plagued by doubts about their salvation. Satan whispers that it is impossible that sinners such as they could be in a state of grace, and some churches compound the problem by teaching that it is possible for believers to lose their salvation. But assurance of salvation is possible in this life. Indeed, as Dr. R.C. Sproul argues in this Crucial Questions booklet, it is the duty of Christians to make their calling sure (2 Peter 1:10). To help believers reach this goal, Dr. Sproul defines assurance, shows how we can get it, reveals the blessings it confers, and warns of the dangers of false assurance. Here is assistance for those who struggle to know where they stand with Jesus Christ.

All About Jesus: The Single Story from Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009MTOBCI
4.5 out of 5 stars   (134 customer reviews)

Who was Jesus? What did he say? What did he do? This book is all about Jesus. It puts together the story of Jesus' life and message told by the people who knew him best--his disciples and friends--as recorded in the four Gospels of the Bible. Although the words were written over 2000 years ago, his message of peace, hope, love, and forgiveness still resonates with people of all races, nationalities, educational, and economic backgrounds. Some like what he said, while others disagree, but almost everyone finds him compelling. The story of Jesus comes to us from four different authors, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, written over a period of nearly seventy years. The message and uniqueness of Jesus remain the same, but each author tells the story from his perspective and for his purpose. Some writers wrote more; others wrote less. But what if we could read it as one single story from beginning to end? This book does just that by combining the four reports of Jesus' life into a single chronological story, using the easy-to-read text of the NIRV Bible. Take a new look at Jesus-- his life, his miracles, and his teachings--and to come to your own conclusions about the carpenter from Nazareth.
This book was produced in collaboration with Biblica (formerly the International Bible Society).

The whole Crucial Questions series by R.C. Sproul is free, if it's your thing.

Who Is Jesus? (Crucial Questions Series Book 1)
http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Crucial-Questions-Series-Book-ebook/dp/B0038OMQEI/ref=pd_sim_kstore_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
No person in history has provoked such widely divergent assessments as Jesus of Nazareth. Some say He was a cunning fraud, while others say He must have been out of His mind. In many cases His story is altered to suit the fancies of those seeking to make Him an ally for a host of militant causes. However, as Dr. R. C. Sproul points out in this Crucial Questions booklet, there is compelling evidence that Jesus was something more-that He was, in fact, God in the flesh. By wrestling with the biblical titles for Jesus and the accounts of His life and ministry, Dr. Sproul unfolds the scriptural portrait of Jesus, the Son of God.

Can I Trust the Bible? (Crucial Questions Series Book 2)
http://www.amazon.com/Trust-Bible-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B0038OML7A/ref=pd_sim_kstore_10?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
There is a common assumption that the Bible is full of errors and contradictions, and that its often-unusual people and events render it useless for today. These ideas are fueled by the teachings of scholarly critics, who seem to delight in raising questions about the Bible s truthfulness and integrity.

But the critics of the Bible are wrong, according to Dr. R.C. Sproul in this Crucial Questions booklet. In fact, he says, there are many solid reasons to trust the Bible. With Jesus, with the apostles and prophets, and with men of God throughout church history, Dr. Sproul affirms a high view of Scripture--that it is inspired of God and therefore inerrant and infallible.

Does Prayer Change Things? (Crucial Questions Series)
http://www.amazon.com/Prayer-Change-Things-Crucial-Questions-ebook/dp/B0038OMARG/ref=pd_sim_kstore_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
Does prayer make any difference? Does it really change anything? Yes, says Dr. R. C. Sproul in this Crucial Questions booklet. Though we cannot hope that our prayers will change God's mind, prevailing upon Him to act against His will, we can be sure that prayer does change things including our own hearts. Plus, it is one of the chief means by which God carries out His will in the world. For these reasons, Dr. Sproul argues, prayer has a vital place in the life of the Christian. In short chapters packed with practical wisdom, he unveils the purpose, the pattern, the practice, the prohibitions, and the power of prayer, calling Christians to come before God's presence with joy and hope.

Can I Know God's Will? (Crucial Questions Series Book 4)
http://www.amazon.com/Know-Gods-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B0038OMASA/ref=pd_sim_kstore_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R. C. Sproul outlines timeless principles for discovering and applying the will of God in day-to-day decisions. He then illustrates how these principles should inform two of the most significant decisions we face in life—the choice of a career and the choice of a spouse. Here is valuable guidance for those who are passionate to follow God.

How Should I Live in This World? (Crucial Questions Series Book 5)
http://www.amazon.com/Should-World-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B0038OMCJ2/ref=pd_sim_kstore_7?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
Christians want to do the right thing. But it can be tough to know what the right thing is. Plus, it's not just the big questions with which we must wrestle ethical dilemmas confront us each day in every aspect of life. On what basis do we make all of these decisions?

In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul argues that the Bible is the supreme source for ethical guidance. That doesn't mean it contains a Thou shalt . . . or a Thou shalt not . . . for every conceivable situation, but it does provide ethical principles. With his trademark wisdom and thoroughness, Dr. Sproul explains how we can uncover and apply these principles.

What Does It Mean to Be Born Again? (Crucial Questions Series Book 6)
http://www.amazon.com/What-Again-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B0046EDK1W/ref=pd_sim_kstore_14?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
When Jesus explained the necessity of the new birth, the Jewish leader Nicodemus asked in astonishment, how can these things be? Some two thousand years later, much confusion still surrounds the term born again, though more people than ever people claim to have had the experience. In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul cuts through the confusion and carefully explains what it means, biblically and theologically, to be born again. He affirms, first of all, that Jesus wasn't kidding new birth is essential then goes on to show what the new birth is and how it occurs. His clear teaching will provide understanding for those who are unfamiliar with the new birth and deeper assurance for those who may not know where they stand with God. As a gifted communicator, R.C. Sproul has helped many believers grow in their understanding of such matters as the nature of God, the history of redemption, and the manner in which we are saved. Now Dr. Sproul's lucid teaching on these vital matters is available in a series of concise booklets that are perfect for personal learning and refreshing, as well as small-group study. For a quick introduction to matters at the very core of the Christian life, for yourself or a friend, consider the Crucial Questions booklets from Reformation Trust Publishing.

Can I Be Sure I'm Saved? (Crucial Questions Series Book 7)
http://www.amazon.com/Sure-Saved-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B00428MY0U/ref=pd_sim_kstore_6?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14

What Is Faith? (Crucial Questions Series Book 8)
http://www.amazon.com/What-Faith-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B0046H8VJA/ref=pd_sim_kstore_11?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
The word faith is heard often these days, but it is given many different meanings. Sometimes it is used in the sense of trust. Other times, it has more to do with hope. Perhaps most often, it is used to mean belief in something apart from rational or empirical support.

Because faith is central to the Christian life, believers must have a clear understanding of how the Bible defines the word and the concept. In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R. C. Sproul looks to Hebrews 11, the great faith chapter of the Bible, for a definition of faith and numerous examples of it in the lives of the saints. He shows that faith, in scriptural terms, is not believing in God but believing God and living according to His Word. Armed with this helpful teaching, readers will gain clarity as to whether the faith they profess is the genuine article.

What Can I Do With My Guilt? (Crucial Questions Series Book 9)
http://www.amazon.com/What-Guilt-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B00AW02OYS/ref=pd_sim_kstore_18?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
Dr. R.C. Sproul has often asked unbelievers who deny their need for a Savior, “What do you do with your guilt?” The question often breaks through sinful complacency, because feelings of guilt over sin are common. Unbelievers may ignore their sense of guilt, rationalize it, or desensitize it, but it is there. It points to the fact that all people are objectively guilty before God.

What is the Trinity? (Crucial Questions Series Book 10)
http://www.amazon.com/What-Trinity-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B00AW02OZW/ref=pd_sim_kstore_15?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
The Trinity is truly a mystery. This doctrine teaches that the God of Christianity is one in His essence but three in His persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Though the word Trinity is not found in the Bible, there is no doubt that the Scriptures teach this triune nature of God. Yet the concept still challenges our finite minds.

What is Baptism? (Crucial Questions Series Book 11)
http://www.amazon.com/What-Baptism-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B007SYA3YE/ref=pd_sim_kstore_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
Baptism is taught in the Bible and has been practiced for centuries, but understanding of its meaning and respect for its importance is at a low ebb today. Confusion reigns over questions about its mode and its place in the life of the Christian, and as a result, even many evangelical congregations are downplaying its significance.

Can I Have Joy in My Life (Crucial Questions Series Book 12)
http://www.amazon.com/Have-Life-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B00AW02P06/ref=pd_sim_kstore_13?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
Joy is a popular topic in Western culture today. Books explain how to find joy in a wide variety of activities. We speak of “joyous” occasions such as weddings and births. We sing about “Joy to the World” at Christmas. “Joy” remains a popular name for girls. But given the extent to which joy seems to be on our minds, few people seem to have it or even know what it is.

Who is the Holy Spirit? (Crucial Questions Series Book 13)
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AW02OZ2/ref=nosim/?ascsubtag=FWctmdn9&tag=fatwalletcom&linkCode=as1
In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul cuts through the confusion by going back to the Bible. He establishes the biblical teaching on the Spirit’s identity—He is one of the three persons of the Godhead, along with the Father and Son—then briefly sketches some of the most basic yet important roles the Spirit carries out. He shows that the Spirit gives new life to unbelievers, then sanctifies, strengthens, teaches, and anoints them for ministry. This booklet provides a basic understanding of the divine person on whom Christians’ very lives depend.

Does God Control Everything? (Crucial Questions Series Book 14)
http://www.amazon.com/Control-Everything-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B00AU0HVXO/ref=pd_sim_kstore_9?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul explores and explains the Christian doctrine of providence, the teaching that God is the sovereign ruler of the universe. He then deals with some of the philosophical and theological questions and objections the doctrine raises. His teaching challenges popular assumptions about the universe and exalts God as the sovereign ruler and sustainer of all things.

How Can I Develop a Christian Conscience? (Crucial Questions Series Book 15)
http://www.amazon.com/Develop-Christian-Conscience-Crucial-Questions-ebook/dp/B00FRF82F8/ref=pd_sim_kstore_12?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
In this booklet, Dr. R. C. Sproul shows that this development involves learning and mastering the many principles God has laid down in His Word, and even in creation itself. In other words, we must know and understand God’s law. As we gain a firmer grasp of what God expects and requires, we are increasingly able to make decisions that please Him.

What is The Lord's Supper? (Crucial Questions Series Book 16)
http://www.amazon.com/Lords-Supper-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B00FRF82FI/ref=pd_sim_kstore_8?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
In this booklet, Dr. R. C. Sproul cuts through the confusion to define the supper, demonstrate what it means, and show how important it is for the lives of believers and churches. He explores the origins of the supper, explains what it does for us, and refutes erroneous views of the Sacrement. Here is teaching that will enhance any reader’s appreciation for the work of Christ that is pictured in the bread and wine.

What is The Church? (Crucial Questions Series Book 17)
http://www.amazon.com/What-Church-Crucial-Questions-Series-ebook/dp/B00FRF82EO/ref=pd_sim_kstore_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
In this booklet, Dr. R. C. Sproul carefully and clearly explains that the church is a body of people saved by Jesus Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit who live to glorify and enjoy God. Beginning with the ancient Nicene Creed, which affirms that the church is “one, holy, catholic, and apostolic,” Dr. Sproul provides accessible teaching on one of the most misunderstood of all Christian doctrines.

Surprised by Suffering: The Role of Pain and Death in The Christian Life
http://www.amazon.com/Surprised-Suffering-Role-Death-Christian-ebook/dp/B0038OMK9Y/ref=pd_sim_kstore_43?ie=UTF8&refRID=19H44PA0R94WCWF2GE14
The problem of suffering is often raised by those who question the goodness or the power of God. In this book, newly revised and expanded, R.C. Sproul provides biblical answers to the questions all of us ask about suffering and addresses some of the many unbiblical conclusions that are put forth today. In the end, he shows that suffering is not outside the realm of God's providence and His good purposes.
