CVS has all back-to-school supplies and dorm room furnishings on clearance. It's going fast!

75% off for:

Lamps
Folding desks & chairs
Storage bins - many sizes, Craft boxes, Underbed storage, etc.
Closet organizers, Stackable drawers, plastic shelving units, etc.
Yaffa blocks, Laundry baskets
Cookware - omelet pans, frying pan sets, pasta strainers, food storage sets, etc.
Portable lap trays, folding snack trays

Even microwaves! A lady in front of me snagged the last one in stock - for $12!

School supplies - notebooks, paper, pens & pencils, etc. Got my kid a Jimmy Neutron "secret lab notes" journal.

Prices seem OK, but last time I purchased these furniture deals at CVS Every single item broke within a week. Luckily I kept the boxes and they refunded without any problems but the whole ordeal was nothing but a hassle.

Real YMMV.

First store: 90% off
Second store: 50% off
Third store: scanned at full price, tho CSR said it SHOULD be on clearance
Fourth store: 50% off

thanks OP! gonna go check out some CVS stores in my area!

Some highlights at 90% off:

10 pack of lightbulbs: 29c
30 pack of plastic hangers: 29c (now I gotta go buy about 150 shirts)
asst. multi-piece plastic kitchen food storage sets: 29c
20" box fan: $1.99

A lot of the stuff I picked up scanned at full price, so the CSR had to do a price adjustment in the computer. Sometimes they don't like to do that because it's time consuming, but they should.

Unfortunately, here in central Illinois, I was told that the next bump in discounts doesn't happen until 9/28 - even though other stores are starting early. So most of the stuff here was only 25% or 50% off...

I might check another store just to be sure.

Thanks OP! Grabbed a ac/dc car/desk cooler/warmer box for $9.99 (regular price $39.99) yesterday. I left the last for any other FWer that may be lurking in my neighborhood...

I talked to the manager of a big CVS in NJ the other day. I asked why another CVS I had just been in was 90% off and his store was at only 50% off. He said it has to do with how badly a store wants to get rid of certain stock (do they need the shelf space? do they have the stoage space in back? has the stuff been selling well without a bigger % discount?). Stores are given certain 'suggested' guidelines from District and Corporate, along with 'recommended' mark-down dates, but the actual decision in many cases is left up to the store mamager.

HTH.....

75% off here in metro Detroit area. Had desks, mini refrigs, plastic storage bins, etc.

Thanks Jobronie! that makes sense.
I found a different CVS that did have their dorm-stuff on-sale. BOY was the cashier surprised when my 7-pc pot and pan set came to $3 and a set of tables for $3.97, laundry basket $1.49 and a set of 3 towels for $2.50. they also have a coffeemaker left and polar fleece blankets-i don't drink coffee otherwise I'd get it. It's in the 19th st store in downtown Philly.

Are there 90% off signs, or do you just have to take stuff to the register and see what happens?

in my case at 2 cvs stores, it was the latter.
