Was $219 After $50 Rebate at outpost.com, but the rebate is no longer showing, so now $269...

Thanks, I knew I saw it somewhere recently, and thought it might have been crapUsa (but that was in August for $229). Outpost rebate must have expired last week because this was a pretty recent deal. I am sure we will see another one, only next time it will be $199 AR.

the maxtor 300GB drive got very bad reviews. its too slow.

perhaps you'd consider adding the WD raptor 36GB drive on the list, too? i know it's SATA, but you already have at least one on there, and the raptor's the highest performing non-SCSI drive out there.. i know one day i'm shooting to install it as my OS/applications drive and just use everything else for storage, just 'cause it's so friggin' fast...

Newegg has it for $117.00 here

With regard to SATA drives, I'm trying to keep this fairly generic and popular ... I doubt that a 36Gb SATA drive is gonna be a popular purchase ... not when it costs more than 120gb SATA ... I am working on a seperate SATA / SCSI / FlashCard / USB Key Drives / 802.11a/b/g you name it it'll be available ... BUT I am aiming this thread at mainstream users ... the 15,000 that bought Dell's 200Gb IDE for example ..

So, anyway ... sorry .........

I agree albrandwood... KISS should be the the theme here. Hope you found my compact flash and DVD-R/+R media guide helpful.

Well, I was just reading about it on Tom's hardware guide and they gave it a good review. It is 5400 RPM es, but it does keep the temps down, as stated by "albrandwood" and it is meant for a huge disk space without constant accessing that servers need it for.

Thanks JCBNetwork ... I've added this (I dont really want to add externals, but I guess this is at a price a lot of laptop owners would buy (if only for the USB2 enclosure) I also added the FireWire version that you PM'ed me ...

Thanks

Gah, was hoping to find some lead on a 2.5" HD deal

Good post but I really don't like this thread, I have to go through all the posts just to see the deals. I preferr single threads specific to one deal. Such as that separate thread on the $50 WD 120GB SE drive.
