Does anyone know if Zenni offers any RayBan style frames like this one?

That is too bad. You should ask for the dealer clearly before you bought it.

I'm sure Zenni has something similar,
you just need to take the time to browse their collection to find it...

kickerstarter said:   Can you guys please share your experience when filing a claim for VSP? I just fill in Zenni Optical and their 1-800 phone number? Anything I should be aware of to avoid denied claim?

My plan covers frame up to $50 and lens for $40. But I don't think it covers coatings. How about shipping? I want to maximize my benefit since I paid for my insurance.

Answering my own question.

Filing with VSP is relatively easy. I register with VSP online and use their online tool to generate a form. I have to enter my information, provider (Zenni Optical and their phone number (800) 211-2105) along with a break down of the costs. And then submit it along with a receipt I printed during my order showing the purchase price and break down. The whole process took about 2 weeks. My only grief is that the I have to submit the form by snail mail instead of fax.

I decided to file a claim for the frame only since the lens is essentially free. Essentially, I am paying for the lens coating out of pocket + shipping. Which is much cheaper than the buying from the lens sharks.

As for quality of the glasses, I bought 2 pairs (only claimed 1 pair). I am feeling dizzy after wearing either glasses for half an hour. I am not sure if it is normal. I decided to use my remaining VSP lens coverage to get a pair of free lens in local lens sharks. I am not getting anything extra because even an anti-reflection coating is going to cost like $69.

After being a happy customer of Zenni for six years, they really screwed up my last order. The Rx was all wrong and the same frame that I ordered the last time was replaced with some cheap flimsy pos frame. The quality of their products have truly deteriorated. They have issued a refund after two weeks of emails and calls. This was after I paid for the return shipping.

Went to Target for eye appointment for myself and my son. Very little choices and ending spending $375 for 2 eye appointments and 1 pair of glasses for my son. I figured I will wait on my glasses so we don't end up broke over the holidays. When did glasses get so dang expensive??? Even their ugly clearance frames were close to $90.

A coworker suggested this place. Called it the dollar store of glasses. Prices start at $6.95. This includes lenses. Has anyone used these guys.

I have my existing frame fitted with transitional lens at Costco and was charged $20 to use my frame. Their transitional lens are $30 more than their regular lens.

Any deals for contact lenses and/or contact lens eye exam??

rated:

I bought from Zenni during the summer. Bought 2 spair pairs for me and a couple for my son. They were very good from what I can tell. I usually wear contacts, but the contacts had been bothering me, so I needed a few pairs of glasses. I got tired of laying them down and not finding them in a rush. I got a regular pair and a rimless pair. And my son got an extra for my house, once for school, and one for his dad.

All came in their own plastic case. The cases were cheap, but who cares.

I plan on buying from them soon again. Was actually going to this weekend (before seeing this post) but I have to locate the prescript.

I agree with all the positive comments so far. I ordered two pairs just to see what the fuss is all about. They took about three weeks to get here, which is what I expected. Both sets of lenses are spot on, and the frames feel far more sturdy than I would have expected for the price. There is no doubt that my really expensive pair from Lens Crafters is better and that the customer service at LC is infinitely better too, but there is no arguing with $40 (all included) for two pairs of decent glasses. I will be putting in a massive order with some friends soon, as they are all surprised at these glasses.

If you want quality on par with Lens Crafters, try CoastalContacts. Currently they are running a promotion for free pair and they ship fast. i recently ordered three pairs under another promotion for a total $14 per pair including everything and received them FIVE days later. I used to order from Zenni but I am not going back to them after trying out CoastalContacts. They have a 100% guarantee that if something is wrong they will refund you 100% and if the problem can be fixed at a local optical store they will pay the cost of fixing it.

Pretty disappointed in my latest order from Zenni. Order placed on 1/20 for replacement frames (no lenses), and just got a shipping confirmation today. ELEVEN DAYS?!? That is simply unacceptable. They didn't have to grind lenses--it should take no more than a couple days ship frames.

Juat a word of caution on Coastal Contacts as they have screwed up the prescription in the glasses on two occasions now. I have ordered from both and overall still prefer the quality of the frames and the optics from coastal but with either off these I now take the glasses to an optician and have them look under a scope and verify the prescription is correct. I usually do anyways to make sure they are fitted properly. Most seem really cool and I tip them a 5 for their help. These glasses are a deal but this is your eyes were talking about so consider verifying to make sure its right as one of mine was WAY off and the other just a bit off.

I'm a person who get headaches whenever I switch glasses. It's usually related to the astigmatism configurations of my glasses. Based on my needs, I'm looking for a 1.59 polycarbonate glasses with all coatings (anti-scratch, anti-reflective).

With coupons, it cost $50 from Coastal and $25 from Zenni. However, Coastal has a no questions asked 365-day return policy whereas Zenni has like 30-days. Does anyone have "picky eyes" like mine, and how does Zenni usually handle such cases, if you need to "respec" your glasses.

Didn't they have Chinese New Years or something like that, at the beginning of the month, where they're all

Could be. They should've put something on the website if that were the case. I emailed a complaint. I'll post if/when I get a response.

I have the same experience. Two glasses from Zenni gives me the headache. I have none, or a lot less, after getting the lens redone in a local optical shop. I did have them check the prescription on one of the glasses and it is pretty close. I did noticed that my optometrist put down a PD that is 2mm larger. Not sure it is related.

I like ZipOptical.com more since their customer service is sweat. I never get response by calling zenni. but Zip's Customer support gave me great help to understand what those options means and if it is really applied on me. By the way, their price are same level as compared to other online glasses stores. But ZipOptical has less choice but better quality than Zenni.

I used Zenni Optical in the past. "Titanium" frameless glasses, full anti-glare coating lenses for $80 shipped. Love them.

Got a weak response from Zenni several days after sending the email. Frames were supposedly out of stock, then they were quick to point out the shipping and tracking status. (Duh, yes, I did receive them eventually.) No mention of the Chinese New Year. I'll still do business with them, but they did not fulfill this order well.

Adding to the Zenni Ordering tips that I posted earlier:

I have ordered 12 pair of glasses from Zenni, and LOVED 11 of them. Returned the 1 for half $ back because I didn't like the style.
I LOVE the selection and the price of course. With the price that low, I can buy multiple pair to coordinate with different colors and formality styles.

I believe Zenni has their lens grinding procedure down to a science. I've taken 2 pair to Lenscrafters to have them read the lens vs the script, and both times, they told me they were exact fits.

My tips:

1) Print out a millimeter ruler PDF (or use one that you already have) and measure the lens height and total width (left to right) of your favorite pair of glasses. Those 2 measurements are the biggest indicator of whether I'll like the frame or not. I try to stick within a couple millimeters in new frames that I select. Google-ing for it will turn up a couple you can print out.

2) When searching, take note of how checking more boxes reduces the number of "hits" you have. There seems to be a bug in their SQL. Sometimes the number of frame "hits" goes up when it should go down instead. Example, if you go from 5 colors to 2 of those same 5, the hits should DECREASE not increase. If hits increase instead, just click on the Zenni logo (start back at home) and re-do the search. It will work OK the second time.

3) When selecting which model head to "try on" your glasses, select the face who has a PD closest to your Pupil Distance number. That's more important then whether they are same gender or same race as you.

4) When ordering sunglasses by adding tinting, ask via their online chat or by calling them which %tint levels also make the lens polarized. I vaguely recall it's only the 67% level, but not on the 80% tinted pair that ordered. The polarized tinted ones have lasted for me, while the surface tinted ones have become blurry.

5) The following is true for any anti-glare / anti-reflective coating, not just those from Zenni.
Never wash your coated lens in hot water. It can make the coating ripple. If you search You-Tube you'll see a video of it.

6) The website runs a lot faster on Firefox than on Internet Explorer, at least on my computer.

7) When you have your eye exam, ask your eye doctor to MEASURE your PD (Pupil Distance) at each of viewing distances you need glasses for. ex: I asked my eye doctor what my distance PD was. Then I asked her to actually measure what my computer PD and reading PD were (vs assuming it). You might as well do that if you are paying a OD or MD for an eye exam anyway. Make sure they write your PDs down on your scripts before you leave.

8) And for clarity and SIMPLICITY (for me when ordering), I asked for 3 different scripts on 3 different pieces of paper, each with PD written on it.
1) Distance only (single vision - movie viewing glasses! so you can slouch in the chair and still see the movie perfectly through the lens lower part too.)
2) Computer Distance only (single vision, for my 21" monitor running in portrait mode, and overall comfort when working.)
3) Progressive (PD dist/PD computer)

I don't need glasses @ reading distance thanks to being so nearsighted in early life.

I still wish I could search based on whether the frames have nosepads or not.

I just ordered this $30 frame:
https://www.zennioptical.com/?q=600015
in local store that frame with the cool gradient going from brown to clear is $240

For what it's worth, I just chatted with Stephanie at Zenni, who said that only the 65% tint is polarized. This is apparently different than the other percentages (10%, 50% and 80%), which are $4.95. She said that the 65% polarized tint is $32.99. I went to confirm that by putting some frames in my cart, but I was unable to actually find the 65% tint option at all.
