Due to various reasons (including increase in work commitments, and the fliers no longer being delivered) I'm going to have to stop these lists ... I appreciate the help I've been given in maintaining these lists.
Thanks

Great post, once again. Thanks for the effort. Hope you are not getting too tired after all the threads you have been doing.
Keep up the great work. I am sure a lot of us appreciate your work.

good idea. hard to implement - biggest downfall = only OP can edit the post outside mods...

my experience with samsung drives = they wont burn bin/cue files properly, just coasters. stay away from them would be my advice. >>
Very true... but albrandwood seems to have it pretty automated, well at least as much as it can be. Maybe it can more of an informational forum. So users can first check there and then go to hot deals if they don't find what they are looking for. So people who post in HD to ask "what are my choices for burners", can instead first check to see if an official thread exists...

I'm not claiming it's the lowest price, but Staples has the Sony DRU510A for $230- 30 rebate. add coupon and pricematch.. item #513120

Can we ask the mods to have shared ownership on some of these ?? I personally don't think that having only the OP edit posts is not a downfall. Afterall, that is the way it is right now. The purpose of having a new section would be for simplicity in finding deals. It would also be a way for people to check before posting any new deals.

This IS a pretty exhaustive list IMO. I wouldn't mind seeing a link on the hot deals page to a page with links to the official threads of stuff. It's a really good idea that will save people time and headache, especially if they need something quickly and don't have time to go through every ad and hot deals page. Very innovative idea. I hope it gets put into motion. After the rating project, FW needs a new capital improvement plan to keep things interesting. (not that things aren't going to get interesting with BLACK FRIDAY approaching!)

Great job albrandwood. I love these condensed topics. If I'm looking for it specifically, it saves a ton of time, rather than sifting through all those previous posts (and reposts). Thanks for all the hard work.

The only thing is that the data is stored in CSV files (SQL coming soon) ... and the page is updated by a ColdFusion script automatically ... the only thing that isn't automated, is the updates to the CSV file ...
(the problem is gonna be at Xmas ... when I'm on vacation for 2 weeks ... )
OP - not sure how you want little snippits of info, but here's an update on the DVD 16x drive at Fry's. Current Outpost.com price is #39.99 - could not find a rebate on-line. Called local Fry's (Renton, WA) - they show a price of $39.99 with a $15 MIR - however they are OOS.
Did some looking around and a DVD-ROM 16x Lite-On from nt-micro.com is $24.75 shipped; also a DVD-ROM 16x Lite-On from pcrapids.com . Both of these places have so-so ratings from resellerratings.com - thought that these would be half-way decent prices Link for Lite-On from PCRapids.com)Link for Lite-On from nt-micro.com compared to Fry's/Outpost which would now be $25 AR if they have it in stock anyway.
The Sony DVD-+RW dual burners have a $30 rebate from Sony floating out there good until March 31st 2004. Might be a good with a coupon and PM somewhere now or down the road.
Qualifying models: DRU510A DRU510AK DRX510UL
Eligible dealers: Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, Office Depot, Staples, Quill, Fry's, The Wiz, American TV, J&R, State Street, Nebraska Furniture, Brandsmart, Datavision, RC Willey, Bailios, outpost.com, Ultimate Electronics, Sony Style, WalMart. link to rebate
Here's a good deal on the Sony DRU510A 4X dual DVD +/- R/RW writer. I did this deal yesterday.
1. Place order on Staples.com for $229.98 minus $30 off $150 coupon recently emailed to staple customers (you may have to ask from other FW members) 3. Call Staples.com and pricematch to cnetpc.com price of $160 (it's down to $152 today!) 4. Net cost for the drive after sony $30 MIR and tax will be around $140.xx
Don't let them tell you the $30 off $150 coupon applies to the pricematch
Bump - Updated for the following stores: BB, CC, CrapUSA, OD, OM, ST, Costco
Appologies for the late update - but I'm at my in-laws this weekend.

Does anyone know which DVD burners the Digital Research, I/O magic, or Pacific digital boxes contain for this weekend's sale? Debating whether to get the Optorite OEM or try my luck at getting one from Staples or BB today.

Thanks. >>
FYI ... looking at the model numbers ... Digital Research == Hi-Val == I/O Magic (there are all the same, bar the 1st letter ...) and I suspect that the MicroAdvantage is manufactured by the same company (as it is very similar
But as to who manufacturered them ... sorry ... no idea.
what ever happened to FAR or $10AR cd-rw drives....just my luck that when the one in my dads pc breaks (from my old pc, a 4x 6yr old scsi drive) there's no cheap replacement ;P
