You must pay for your purchases with cash, debit card (see Club for qualifying networks), Wal-Mart Credit (Wal-Mart MasterCard not accepted at all locations), or Discover® card only (no checks).
Am I reading this correctly? They don't take regular Visa or Mastercard?

So if you are in CA, SC, or Elmsford, NY, then you don't have to pay the 10% extra? or am I reading it wrong?

yeah, seems a little ambiguous, can anyone confirm that if you live in CA, you wouldnt have to pay the 10 percent fee?

So if I were to use the Guest Pass, I would have to pay by Discover....

One more note about this pass: They'll take this pass away once you finish shopping. They'll only give you in store credit for RETURN.

I use these all the time. Have never had to pay the 10% upcharge. I believe that is not legal in California. Thanks for posting Joker... I've been waiting for a current one-day pass

Yeah, if you're not a real member, it's cash or Discover only, pretty much. Bugs the heck out of me that I can't use my Visa debit card there, but it's worth the hassle.
Shouldn't this be posted on the Free Stuff section? But if it did, I would of never know about this. I hardly click on the free stuff section. Thanks OP.
Normally at Sam's you can't use Visa or Mastercard anyhow, but you can write checks if you are a member, so I guess that's the one difference.
There are a good amount of things that make paying for it useful, like $3 for 6lbs of pasta. If you get your gas there, that in a year will pay for your membership easily.

Thank Jokersmoker! I've been wanting to check samclub out, just in time.

I just have a hard time justifying TWO membership cards (Costco AND Sam's). But there are some things Sam's carries that Costco does not, so these free passes are handy. Also, I might be wrong but I thought we used our debit card at Sam's, even as non-members.
as a point of information.. I'm a Sams Club member and they take VISA at the club I go to..

Isn't that the normal sale price in regular markets? I only load up when it's 3lbs for $1.

As long as you're careful about prices (and if you're a Fatwalleter and you're not careful about prices, what the hell's wrong with you) Sam's is an excellent place to shop. The pharmacy also has crazy deals (400 generic Benadryl capsules for <$3.50).

not sure why the person earlier had trouble using a Visa Debit card... they dont mind visa branded debits as long as you use your PIN number to pay - they won't run it through if you ask it to be read like credit. Although I think i remember reading that some clubs let you pay with another credit card if you pay the 2.5% for the transaction fee. In any event, debit should be ok, provided you dont have some really wierd ATM network.

I cancelled by Sam's membership a about a year ago. I couldn't justify having Costco and a Sam's card. It's true that they carry some different things, but overall Costco wins hands down for me.
Non-members can also use debit card at Costco. I do it all the time for my friends. I just show them my card and they pay for it.

I have a BJs memebership, and they accept Visa and Mastercard but not AMEX (don't know about Discover) and I never recall paying extra. I believe paying extra is against every merchant's contract with VISA or Mastercard.

oops. I wrote wrong junk before.
EDIT in something useful: Once this deal dies... you can pay the 10% non-member surcharge any day... just go in and ask for a guest pass.
Costco is worse when it comes to accepting payments. They only accept AMEX or debit, no other credit cards

If you know how much you're going to spend, just go to WalMart first and use your Visa/MC to buy a WalMart gift card, which Sam's Club will then accept as payment.

I went to Costco a couple times and I could only find maybe one or two things that I would consider buying, they really had no deals, Sam's in my experiece is a h3ll of a lot better, not to mention that the membership there is cheaper.

Well on sale yeah. But it also depends what you're getting. The stuff at Sam's is top notch in my opinoin. Barilla makes some good pasta, but that Mueller's stuff and some other brands are COMPLETE GARBAGE. I had to apologize to my girlfriend a couple of times when I fed her that WASTE.
When you go in, if you are asked for ID, just say that you are going to customer service. After you go there, just do your thing in the store.
About 11am is the best time for those delicious food samples. The rotisserie chicken is out of this world.
If you are hard pressed to buy something, ask the last person in line to sponsor you, and that you will pay cash, (use your imagination in this regard), or use the free pass listed in this string. Get a separate receipt.
Your purchases will be checked at the exit door on your way out, but as long as you have a receipt, you're OK.
Afterwards, buy a Polish or smoky Dog at the restaurant, and relax, and people watch.
