Firstwitness said: yeah, seems a little ambiguous, can anyone confirm that if you live in CA, you wouldnt have to pay the 10 percent fee?

that would make sense...

i thought any nonmember can shop at sams club anytime and just pay the 10% fee. it wouldn't make sense to have this "one day pass" w/ a 10% fee...

Not true. You may be able to get a one day pass one time at Sam's, but you can't keep going in for them. At BJ's Wholesale Club, you can shop without a membership all the time, and you pay the 15% fee.

I've been there three times in the past month with three different one-day passes, obtained from different sources. They never make a record of my name and I have yet to have a problem.

Also, I can definitely confirm that there is no 10% up-charge at Sam's Clubs in California. I have been spending 1 to 2K per year at Sam's Club for the past 3 years without a membership, as the one-day passes are so easy to find. Sometimes they are printed in the newspaper, sometimes in the WalMart circular, and there is almost always a legitimate pass available on-line, although it sometimes requires a bit of googling.

That's not what I said. I said if you go in without a one day pass and go to customer service to get one, you can only get it once -- they DO take your name.

Thanks for the clarification. I have never tried asking for a pass at the service counter.

I used the pass today because they had a black ds lite in stock and they did charge me the 10% upcharge. 10% was better then the ds lite markups on eBay and I had teh item in time for my husband birthday.
I used it in Utah.

sisterbear30 said: I used the pass today because they had a black ds lite in stock and they did charge me the 10% upcharge. The register charges it automatically.

Is it even worth it, with the 10% charge and all.

Avoid the 10% surcharge like this:

Get behind what you would consider a nice person. Tell them that
your Sam's Card just expired, or you left it home.

And would they be so kind and sponser you for a few items you wish
to purchase using your credit card.

I live 3 minutes from a Sam's Club, and never have been turned down ever.

Here is another one, good through March 2007, but don't abuse it, as it is sent to you via US Mail. PhiilySwirl Sam's Club 1 Day Pass

They had the same offer last fall, and were quick to send the pass. They actually sent me three in the envelope, perhaps because it was in December and they wanted to get them all into circulation before they expired December 31st.

There were inserts in my local papers today (Chicago Tribune & NWI Times) that included a 1 day pass exp 2/04

1 day pass exp 2/19 was in the Chicago Tribune today. Check your local papers.

Bump for a new link courtesy of Philly Swirl Ice Pops. Pass arrives via mail. Pass expires 3/30/07

Please fill out the following form completely to receive your 1 day Sam's Club Shopping Pass.
The pass is sent through regular mail, so be sure to fill in all of the correct mailing information.
Keep in mind that the information you provide is for our use ONLY.

The SAM’S CLUB® One-Day Guest Pass is good for one day only. A 10% Service Fee applies to all nonmember purchases when shopping with the One-Day Guest Pass (10% Service Fee is not applicable in California, South Carolina, or Elmsford, NY). If you decide to join Sam's membership, the 10% Service Fee will be deducted from your membership fee. Guest Pass good through March 30, 2007

Any new passes?

Watch your local newspaper this week. They usually advertise one about this time.

The Philly Swirl page has been updated and now says that the passes expire 6/30. I finally requested them (I had not last time).

10% Service Fee is not applicable in California, South Carolina, or Elmsford, NY....so if you live in one of these places you are good to go!

There is a one day pass on the inside front cover of "Spring Entertaining and Outdoor Living Guide 2007" available at the customer service desk. Expires 06/01/07

PhillySwirl has the pass good thru june 30 up on their website again here

my bad ...it is not the pass merely a request form but hey maybe they will be prompt!

billtmore said: my bad ...it is not the pass merely a request form but hey maybe they will be prompt!Took a few weeks for me to get them. They sent me two. I'll bet that Sams would take a printout since they do it from the website. Sadly, I won't have time to scan it until mid-week.

Whatever happened to the OP, the famous Jokersmoker?

Billrubin...I am sorry I did not see that you had already posted the phillyswirl update!!! got to read the whole thread (how many times have I uttered that!)

Jokersmoker retired from Hot deals .....maybe he started a F/W support group for hot deal addicts!...kinda like SAMS ...you wind up buying stuff.....and more stuff

This is a different approach to getting a Sam's Club free pass.

---------

50-packs of 8x Verbatim DVD-Rs are on nationwide B&M-only clearance at Sam's Club. The price has dropped to $8.81 in most locations, although some stores may still be selling them for $10.88 (when the sale started, the price was $12.88).

Once again this appears to be a clearance deal, as they seem to be trying to get rid of their 8x media.

This deal is only for 8x DVD-Rs. No 8x DVD+Rs have been found.

The media code for these disks is MCC 02RG20.

NOTE:
If you are not a Sam's Club member, simply go to their web site, look under Help -> Contact Sam's Club -> Contact Us By E-Mail, and ask them for a One-Day Pass. I did and they quickly sent me a link to printable one. Normally, use of the pass incurs a 10% fee above the price of anything you buy, except in California and South Carolina. For this deal, a 10% surcharge will only add $0.88 to each pack.

Ah have no use for the FREE PASS at this time.

Let somebody who does do the rest of the work.

Sorry, I thought you were the person who had gotten the pass. I posted a request for the link in the other thread.

There is a one sheet flyer in the Sunday Chicago Tribune with a pass that Expires June 18 2007. Check your local Sunday papers.

One-day guest pass, expires June 30, 2007. (credit Alan69)

Alert: the Elmsford, NY location (famous for not having a non-member surcharge on the one day pass) no longer accepts one day passes (apparently they feel they can make their own rules). I was told I had to join in order to purchase and telling them to read the form would not convince them otherwise. When I asked them to call the manager over, they paged him, then someone called for security (kind of amusing to hear security being paged to the register I'm standing at) before the manager had the balls to come over. Needless to say he did not change his mind and I left before he had the chance to tell security to escort us out.

I'll report back when I hear from corporate.

i received my one day pass from Philly Swirl Ice Pops yesterday. (see topic summary) it's much more official looking, it's a real sam's club one day pass.
it took about 3 weeks to arrive, but it came. like i posted in the topic summary, it expires June 30. if you really want a pass you could get one that way, and still have time to use it.

that's a bummer, especially after you've spent 1+ hrs shopping and filling a cart up with stuff.

the last one day pass i used was a printed off the web type (like the one posted a few replies up) and they raised eyebrows and called manager etc. but finally let me purchase. (stanton, ca) i figured this philly swirl pass would be much easier to fly, guess not.

(stanton, ca) i figured this philly swirl pass would be much easier to fly, guess not. This is the only store I've ever had problems with One Day Passes at in the past, and in that case it was the online one that had the bad membership number. In this case, the cashier immediately told me that they do not accept them and asked if I had shown it to the greeter (I had, and they did not complain). She refused to even scan it.

This particular location is just awful. I used to hate it when I was a member, and when I come back as a non-member I remember why I let my membership lapse. I only went there today because we were at a movie theater across the street.

Hopefully my complaint to Sam's corporate will get me a $20 gift card (I got that last time they did something).

I expect that when I get the gift card, the manager will have been re-educated to allow me to shop with a one day pass (I also asked them to have the manager apologize for the way I was treated). I can also go to another location, although that one charges the 10% surcharge. And as you said, I can also use it at WM.

I just sent my email. I realized I should have called corporate from the club and gotten them to intervene. I never thought of that until I saw the 800 number on the website.

If you know you don't like the store why bother trying to go back?

mrbudman said: If you know you don't like the store why bother trying to go back?Because they had some stuff that I wanted to buy. They had some nice beach towels, and we were going to get some croissants and goat cheese. Not a big shop but stuff we found that we wanted. And it's convenient to my office (as opposed to Costco, where I have a membership).

db said: Courtesy of Pampers, expires August 31, 2007: http://us.pampers.com/en_US/emails/samsclub_email_may/samsclub_web.htmlThanks. Sadly, Sam's corporate never bothered to respond to my email. I am not amused. I'll have to give them a call. OK, I just called and they told me that the store manager's manager will call me with 3 business days.
