Picked up 2 of these last night. This is a very hot deal. They are on clearance for $19.97 each. Its the All Glass (acrylic) 5 gallon tank with filter, light, hood. The same exact item is selling everywhere else fo $39.99. I saw it at PETsMART in their store on an endcap for $44.99.
Get em from your local Costco while they still have em. The one by me in Illinois, had about 15 left.
Its the perfect size for a Beta fish, a goldfish or two, or anything that doesn't have sophisticated needs. Note: there is no heater so if you want one you will have to buy a small one and add it.
My store is in Bloomingdale IL. And as always - YOU MUST be a Costco member to buy from them. They were in the far back corner, as far from the door that you can get. On a pallet, by the paper towels.

Bozo - I'm on the same page as you. My oldest daughter just turned 3 and would love this. She loves fishies, especially NEMO .... nice deal, gotta head out to Costco again.

Fantastic deal. I was in the market for one of these, to put under my kitchen counter because of my cats (they used to sit on top of my other tank).
Which is better this one or the eclipse six? Also is the eclipse six actually 6 gallons, because I looked on Petco.com and they have it for $55 (minus 30%). No heater in that one either. Also, do you know if there is a slot in either of these for a heater?
Arrggg, I seriously miss my 55 gallon tank and oscar.

Just remember this is not for fish that need heat. Just for goldfish and betas.
There is a nice hood - with a flip up lid for feeding in the front, and a precut opening in the hood for the Whisper filter (included) so a heater cord could easily fit. There is a little more info on their site. Link to All Glass site
I've had a Mini Bow 7 and Eclipse 6. Both are good tanks. The Mini is glass, so it won't scratch. Eclipse is acrylic, so it won't break or leak. Eclipse also has a better filter and better lighting.
Folks, whatever you decide to keep, please try to be educated about your aquatic pet. Many fish die needlessly because of negligence or ignorance. If you are new to this, stay with fresh water fish and choose hardy fish. Using clean filtered water, lightly stocking the tank, and lightly feeding the fish are the three key ingredients of successful (and thus enjoyable) fish keeping.

And a good rule of thumb - 1 inch of fish for every gallon of water. So if you have a 2" goldfish - you will need 2 gallons of water, just for that 1 fish.
Is the filter in-tank or hang-on? I checked the All Glass site, but the description did not specify. Thanks.

Ya, fishkeeping is very good for educate purpose. It teachs you/kids about taking responsbility of living animal and patient. For newbie, stay out of saltwater fish(NEMO... Best start with easy fish like guppy/beta..etc. and make sure you cycle the tank about 6 weeks before you put any fish in it.

5 gallons won't hold a goldfish....not a full grown one at any rate.
Problably want to do a coldwater setup with a few mountain minnows or danios instead. Or add a heater and have small tetras (neon, etc.)
A marine setup might be very interesting, though in a tank this small, maintenance is going to be a nightmare.

I don't wanna sound like a vegetarian defending cows but don't you feel that this tank is like a prison to fish? C’mon now, even Sadam's cage was bigger than that, proportionally!

Thanks OP! Will definitely check out local costco.
Some of my bettas didn't make it this winter because I believe it's too cold. I noticed they were less active. When I place them in a heated tank, they were active again. But unfortunately, some didn't make it. I can always use more tanks. Wife seems to differ. Anyways, I got 4 fowerhorns now, if you don't know what these are, check them out! They are very beautiful fishes, agressive though.

Actually the bigger the tank the better for starting out, but most people think the opposite. It takes larger tanks longer to "bad" water conditions (ammonia etc.), and you can save the fish a lot of stress.

yup tetras are the best to go with this small tank.
and PLEASE don't just put salts in it and think you can get saltwater fish !!
I have a 29 gallon in NoVA that I'll trade for not that much stuff... Or sell for not much money.
If someone wants to get me one of these 5 gallon jobbers... that'd be nice part of it.
Its dirty and dusty, but has hood, light, stand (wood), gravel, heaters, filter (you probably need stuff), etc...
PM me... I just don't have room for it. Pickup only.

<< Sorry, got the spelling wrong. Yes I mean flowerhorn. Or flower horn. Here's some pictures! >>
DON'T put flower horn into those 5gal tank. flower horn belong Cichlid family which required hard water(most city water trend to be soft)and higher temperture. The most important it will grow up to 12in. dude.. imagine you putting 12" fish into 14in length of tank...

LOL!
That is what happened to me. I bought 4 oscars, 3 died of natural causes early in their life. 1 survived. I started out with a 10 gallon aquarium. Then about 4-5 months later I said, ok, he's a big fish now, I better get a 20 gallon tank. I even got the 20 gallon long tank "just in case." Well about a year later, the fish was 12"+ long and I bought a 55 gallon tank set up and he grew to about 16" long (not including the tail).
I spent about $1000 in tank set ups and $3 on the fish itself. Loved that fish and it was well worth it!

way2go,
I put them in small tanks when they're one inch big. I got 2 20 gal and one 55 gal ready to go!
This is good starter kit for $20! Will have to look for it at next costco trip. Don't need it, just want to check it out.
I have 55gallon with aggressive and dosile fish living happily together. How? Put baby aggressives with adult dosile.
Tazz, 4 oscars in 10 gallons is suicide! lol. I guess you learned the hard way. And I've seen comments about goldfish on here... goldfish, like many fish, grow to size according to their surroundings. Good rule of thumb is to not overcrowd tank. For this 5gal, maybe two or three max! Unless you have schooling fish, then 5 may work.
Well actually you don't have to be a member. I haven't been a member in a couple of years but I buy from Costco all the time. All you need is to have a Costco cash card and you are golden.

Yeah, but they were only about 2 1/2" long. I figured 2 were going to bite the dust and was told by the fish place that they grow to the size of the tank. Well, I didn't realize that it would grow in length to the exact size of the tank and could not turn.
The fish just kept growing and growing. Luckily I had the $$ and space and actually enjoyed learning and buying the new tanks.

Every store I go to in the NY/NJ area, you have to be a current member, if not you either renew the fee or your SOL.

I understand. I pointed out not to misleading whom new to fishkeeping.
<< We have one of these tanks and have had 4 fancy guppies in it. They have survived 2 years, much longer than the kids' interest in them. >>
4 mated pair guppies can be multiply into hundreds in 2yrs... i got a mated pair they pop out 20 fry within 3mo..

I'll second that tetras are probably a good choice for a small tank like this. They come in a variety of colors and types, school well, and are fairly cheap. For anyone just started out with aquariums I'd also suggest danios. They're very common and cheap and super hardy little fish...great for cycling a tank for the first time!

Just would like to report that I received my Eclipse Six from Petco.com and aged the water and picked up 2 snails and 4 fancy tailed guppies.
1 guppy bit the dust and as I was trying to fish it out - I look around the tank and I had 2 baby fish. !!!!!! This morning I go to feed them and I now have 6 baby fish in total!!!! The girl at the store said that one of them looked pregnant but it must have been all pregnant females (3 females 1 male).
