if someone want it, you might want to check it online.just search QWS QCCD790.

We have 4 -- Rivergate, Hickory Hollow, Cool Springs, and Bellevue.
Nice to see a fellow Nashvillian. I don't know if I trust the online stock checker, but I already bought enough of these for myself and friends.

I ordered (2) of the Qwestar QCCD390 stereo's from a link given on this thread. After seeing the reviews on the Qccd390, I returned both unit. During my visit, I wandered into the audo section and found a Qwestar QCCD790 for $34.99 + Tax.

Since my conversion van needs a new CD Player, I ended up removed the JVC CD Player from my '89 Chrysler New Yorker and installing the Qwestar in it's place. I was really amazed. It actually sounded pretty good to my ears. Can't complain for what I paid.

My local Circuit City had another one (new in box) available. I guess I'll go and get it later today.

Also, considering I did not get the warranty on the first one ($12.00) I will get it on the second one. This way if either one goes bad, it's under warranty. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Jesse

A lot of CC B&M if not all in Philly area got this unit in stock at $34.99.
Check your local store <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Enjoy

BTW, has anyone installed this unit in VW Passat? What tools do we VWer need? thanks

I already have an aftermarket HU in my Maxima. Do I need to buy anything extra to install or I can just reuse everything?

my local store had it for $50. i bought it then went back with the receipt and i PM it to $35 they gave me weird looks...but i still got my $16 dollars back so i don't mind...but they did keep my PM receipt that i printed out <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> the one from WI.

if i have an existing after market tape deck...will i need to use a new wiring kit?

No, you can use the same wiring harness that you used to install the other deck.

You can use the same wiring harness and install kit that you used for the other HU.

Picked up one of these on my way home from work today. Not sure of brand name (but wasn't sure about Apex, either - and have nothing but good things to say about that!), but seems to have a LOT of features, especially when you consider it's $35. MP3 tag support? Search for MP3 title? It does it all, apparently! Will install it soon, after I get the harness from Wally World. Nice find, OP!

By the way, the Carmel Mountain SD CC also has the Qwestar CD/AM/FM (no MP3) and LCD not LED display for insane $23.99. What's up with that!??

went to my local CC with the scan of the reciept and asked for a PM. the nasty CSR called up her manager to check and told me they can't PM cuz it is from Wisconsin and it is a different market area. I got the original price using the first reciept scan (49.99) with no problem in the same store with a nicer CSR. I might go back and try again with a different CSR <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif"border=0>

Does it have the capability to shuffle and/or repeat only certain mp3 directories (rather than the entire disc)?

Keep checking your local stores. My dad bought the last one in the Fort Wayne, IN store for our camper. Couple of days later, they had two more. So I bought one for my old pickup and my dad bought another for his old blazer. They were sold out again. Now, looking online, I see that they are available again in the store and also in other surrounding stores that were also sold out. So maybe they have a bunch in the warehouse and are restocking stores as they run out?!?

Be Careful not to unbolt that screw which is center of the back side of the unit while the unit is on if you are going to use the metal strap that secures the unit to your car.. There is a 2mm space between the head of the bolt and open circuitry which will immediately short (ground) the speaker channels causing no sound to be heard because the bolt falls deeper in when the nut is lightly loosened.. This is really a case of faulty design in which they should have some sort of protection between the two touching each other from the inside (which is unknown from the outside.. I had to take open the top cover to see why the bolt shorted out the unit).. I was able to get me an easy exchange at CC.. good deal nonetheless

XM RADIO is much better, dont waste your time with this qwestar junk.

You compare two different things which should not be compared.
XM Radio is $100 upper
qwestar is $35 lower

Yes Pizza is junk, but beef steak is good food.

Not really, check your local CC. There are several XM radio on sale around $30 or so. of course YMMV

Let's not forget that xm comes with a monthly bill.

f'n thread crappers. XM radio requires a subscription so that costs a lot of money. Anywhoo I love this deck I really scored for $35. I have not had it skip at all and it plays mp3 cds and shows the filename or ID3 tag. My friend spent a year or two ago 250$ just for a deck that does not even show the ID3 tag. This unit has me more than happy.

I picked up 2 at CC on Ford Rd in Dearborn, MI., 1 left at this store.
Price in computer was $49.99, but PM to $34.99 was easy using scanned receipt from WI.

Phone check has 2 at Taylor MI store & none at Westland MI store.

I scored one for 35 at local CC, and had to purchase a harness kit from WalMart that included radio antenna adaptor for GM models, and form my saturn I need mounting kit too, and installation was easy.

My total came to 38(stereo) + 7(harness kit with GM antenna adaptor) + 16(Mounting Dahs kit)

Its far better then the comapny fitted radio and looks cool for the price. I think our store have one or 2 still left

Has anyone near NY been able to get this for the $34.99 price? My local CC won't accept the $35 scan in OP since it has no store info <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> Would anyone have a copy of a receipt at that price that has at least the store name and number on it? Thanks!

Yeah, same here. I showed them the 35 reciept and they said they can't do it since it doesn't have a date or a store # or anything else. Also, the entire CC system has this thing for 70 bucks now, which really sucks, cuz that make it seem more like we are trying to scam CC. If anyone has a 35 scan with proper info, please PM or post.

Don't take that nut off, there is a separate nut, lock washer and flat washer in the screw bag that is suppose to be used for mounting the rear support to the stud.

My post on page 14 of this topic has date and store number. I cut out my Master Card number and sales rep tho.

HAHA.. now someone tells me.. I didn't even bother opening up the hardware bag.. oh well, I got a hasslefree replacement.. this is still a sign of cheap design.. other headunits just have a hole there with no screw protruding out and you just screw the strap in...

I went to pick up my order that I had placed 2 weeks ago. I had given up on picking up the order until I saw that someone had posted a PM receipt for $35. I went to the store with a copy of the receipt. I thought that I will let the clerk do all of steps of checking out the product, and then at the very end I will show him the PM receipt. However, even without having to show the receipt, he said thta they are crediting back $65+tax onto my credit card because the in-store price of this item is $35. I tried to argue to get another 10% of the difference back but it was to no avail. He said that the in-store price has always been $35. I didnt push any further. I was happy with getting this baby for $35. I will get the harness from Sears for $5 and then get busy installing this in my Corolla.

So, all you people out there.. the in-store price of this item has fallen to $35. And many of the stores seem to have it in-stock now. So, go ahead and call up your local stores to see if they have any in their store.

Good luck to ya all.

<< I've got a question. I have the stock am/fm/cassette player in a 96 Honda Accord Ex. Interested in adding this Qwestar unit, as there is a empty space in the dash for a cd player. Will it cause any problems in keeping both the am/fm/cassette stock unit and adding the Qwestar cd/mp3/am/fm unit?

Thanks in advance for your help.

According to the intallation guy in CC, all Honda factory cassette players only work with Honda factory radio/CD players. So most likly, you can not keep the origional stock unit, especially the cassette player(if you have a separate one). If they are in one unit, you might need to remove them all.

thanks chuanren20,

I got two (the last two in the store) at $34.99 each this morning, the price tag of the store is that price.

5/4

Just wanted to say thanks OP.
Got one in Arlington, TX for 34.99 and they have a few left. Going to put it in tomorrow.

thanks ty1 too,
the PDF document you linked is perfect for my Honda Civic 2000, I will try to install it this weekend.

Help: I found that there is nothing shown on the display today. Is it because of mal-function by the player itself or incorrect setting by me? There is still nothing shown even after I reset the player. If you know the cause, please let me know. Otherwise, I have to replace it. Thank you.

Anybody try VBR (variable rate) mp3s? Do you hear blip noises in it? I don't think this unit plays variable mp3s? Are there any firmwares for this Qwestar? Someone answer!

any one know if i gotta buy the extra hardness for my honda accord 94 ex?
my car got the stock cd player and seperate am/fm/tape player?
do i have to take both out?
by the way, the white plain, ny store still has 10 of them

i didn't go to the store in white plain...i went to the cc store in palisade shopping center in west nyack...scored one for 37xx...they have it in the stock room...i also bought a kit and harshness for my honda accord 94 ex....don't know if i need it...anyway, i can return it if i don't need...the guy insisted that i need for my honda

thanks op

Not sure about the '94, but I didn't need a full mounting kit for my '98 accord (I did use a wiring harness, though). I also had a stock cd player and separate am/fm/tape player.

thanks,

what guide did you use to install yours...you did it yourself? if you don't need to get extra harshness cable and the face kit, i may not need it..i'll try to install tomorrow and see what happens

I used a WalMart wiring harness and the instructions listed in the first post of this thread (http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Honda.html). I've never installed anything like that before...and it was surprisingly easy. It took a little bit of time, of course, but it worked out well.

Sorry...I think I misread your post the first time. Yes, I used a harness. I did not use a mounting kit.

when I went to a local cc try to pm, they said the receipt which I got here was last week's, so can't be used to pm. Bad luck! Can someone scan this week's receipt with $35 price? Thanks..

I bought mine on Monday, May 3, 2004

Here's a scan of my receipt:

Me too. I'm flying to Philadelphia on Friday to pick up a car. I would love to install this when I get there for the 10+ hour ride home.
