Due to various reasons (including increase in work commitments, and the fliers no longer being delivered) I'm going to have to stop these lists ... I appreciate the help I've been given in maintaining these lists.
please if you have used the Sonic 50x DVD+R 2.4x - please PM me and let me know what your experiences with them are. Also let me know what drive you have. Thanks!

If you haven't already succeeded printing, you have to rotate the rebate 90º before printing. The rebate is a 11.5" x 7.11" image. Before you print, you want it to be as close to 8.5" x 11" as possible. Click the rotate button 1x and you should be able to print the full size of the image.

About 5 years ago, before I bought my CD burner in 2001, I bought about 250 floppies. Most were FAR. One customer at COMPUSA asked me what good they were since they only held 1.44 MB's. I told him I used WinZIP to "span" them together. Today half are collecting dust unused. A month ago I gave 40 away to a family member. In fact, I still have about 200 1.2MB 5.25" floppies in storage and I gave all my 360KB 5.25" floppies to Goodwill.

I've been wondering about this myself. I guess I'll get the DVD+R since I'm just getting into this. The only DVD player I have right now is on my computer ported to my TV. This works just fine because I can adjust the sound using a 10-band equalizer on my sound driver.
The Newegg 100 DVD+R price is excellent. Thanks to OP.

DVD-R = more compatible with older DVD players DVD+R = more compatible with newer DVD players other than your burner specs (single or dual capability), thats about it

That is not all!
DVD+R and DVD+RW can do a "book type" with a lot of burners.
This fools ANY DVD player into thinking that it is a true DVD-ROM disk, thus will play on ANY DVD player new or old.
If your DVD burner does booktyping then +R is the only way to go! And that is from someone who was dead-set on the -r standard till the booktyping came out.

I have an NEC ND-2500a. Can it do "booktype" burning? I assume it can since it's only 2 months old. It probably has firmware version 1.06 on it. The problem is the DVD burning software I am using probably will not use booktype burning. It will probably only use regular type burning no matter which media type I use.
Edit: BTW, this "booktype" feature has convinced me to stick with the DVD+R format, as I originally intended. I was thinking of buying DVD-R, but now I'm going to buy DVD+R for sure. Thanks for your input to the FW forum.

I recently found that our local WalMart (NW Chicago area) had the best deal on the Panasonic 4.7GB discs. A box of 5 with full size DVD folding boxes (like those that retail DVDs are sold in) costs about $19 + tax. This compares well with the $25 price that is for the 5 DVD-RAMs sold usually with smaller and less expensive slim line plastic cases.
other comments.... Last week, we bought a Panasonic DMR-E50 DVD recorder (demo model at Circuit City + 10% off sale) and use the dvd-ram discs in it like a VCR. Picture quality is excellent and the unit is easy to use for this application. This deck will write to dvd-ram and DVD-R media. I've found that the Ritek 4X 4.7GB DVD-R media sold by newegg.com (and highly regarded in this forum) works well.
As noted above, having a DVD burner that can change a booktype setting (like the LiteOn +/- drives) is great. I can take DVD-R files from my DVD recorder and reburn them using the DVD+R media with a changed booktype setting to the play everywhere DVD-ROM status...

What software do you use to burn to your DVD+R burner? How do you specify to your DVD+R burner you want "booktype" burning? Is booktype in the software you use? I assume you're using your Lite-On burner for DVD+R burning.
The problem with my setup is I'm pretty sure the software I'm going to use doesn't have booktype burning capability, unless they already patched it.

Media code for #1: RITEK-R03-02 Media code for #2: RicohJPNR01
RicohJPN is slightly better.

Newegg is selling the 100 pk 4x DVD+R ridata spindle now for $52.99 with a $10 rebate (good for purchases from 7/1 to 7/31 ) making them just $42.99 after rebate.

If I have to pay $10 for 50 CD-R, I would want a good quality CD-R. If you place an order with OMax sometime soon, try to buy a Fuji or Ridata spindle. Those are $14-15/100. They might be sold out, though.
agent099, Newegg has Ridata 100 spindles for $18. Still high, but...

I've burned about 20 of these without a coaster, but I paid about a $1 per disk and am thinking of buying more for the same price. Good deal/worth it for the price??
