Thanks! I like TODAI, but scare of their price, this helps a lot

did todai still have birthday free now or not?

I've never tried TODAI, but I've heard that it is "TODAI" for. HAHAHA

Hahaha, Todai is AMAZING. One of the best buffets I have ever been to.

yeah, I can't agree with you more

Went to the one in Vegas's Aladdin Desert Passage mall recently. For a sushi buffet it was friggin' awesome. Walked out 4 large plates heavier and ~$15 poor-er.

have been there a few time, but 20 dollar buffet keeps me from going their often, with coupon its a little better.

Yum... fish in a steam tray with other frothing-mouted people waiting in line for some!

Not my type of buffet

What is "TODAI"?

All you can eat Japanese and Asian cusines. www.todai.com

Thanks OP! Was gonna go there today anyway, so you just saved me 5 bucks.

Good stuff... Thanks OP!

dont forget... you eat free on your birthday..

Not all TODAIs' are the same. Some are Okay, some are not that good, while some are great. The best one I've been to was in San Diego, worst I think was either in Concord or Pleasanton.

Most locations will now give you a free gift certificate for a future meal (If you go for weekday dinner, you get a free weekday dinner). Must have another person with the birthday person. Basically it's now buy 2 get 1 free if you are willing to eat the free meal alone. The free one expires in 3 months and has the birthday person's name on it although I'm not sure how strict they are about checking ID.

Thanks for the coupon notice! I'm glad they brought back the eat free on B-day. They had changed to a receive a certificate for next meal free when you came in on your B-day, but I guess people were no longer coming in. My wife and I have our b-day's on consecutive days, so we usually do dinner on my b-day then lunch on her's. Can't stomach 2 dinners in a row... then again can't pass up two free sushi meals either... I love Todai... Thank goodness they're opening up one in Chicago soon... Almost ate there in Waikiki this past week, but went to Makino Chaya instead (interesting Japanese buffet... they have a 90+ item menu as well as a small buffet set up; you get to order 2 items at a time off the menu + the setup buffet; all you can eat - interesting concept, although it keeps the waiters/waitresses very busy and there's some wait time involved b/c of the ordering system, no time limit) - those who visit Oahu should try it. It's on King St...

There's one in the chicago burbs out in Schaumburg Woodfield Mall

tampa fl location is great!

Thanks OP. I plan to go this week anyway.

Doesn't the coupon look really unprofessional? They even have "seperate" [sic] spelled incorrectly. Anyhow, the Todai at the Schaumburg mall is alright but pricey and nothing compared to the buffets on the West coast...And they lie. I kept calling them asking them if they have Uni and some other stuff and they say they do occasionally..been there 5 times and haven't seen it yet (none of my friends have either).

I can honestly say the one at Daly City is really bad.

Thanks OP, this will be perfect for Father's Day!

i second that.. the food at that particular one has no flavor at all...

Or could that be Pleasant Hill in the Sunset Mall? Went there twice. After the 2nd time I decided never to go there again...even if it was still free on your birthday. Now, they give a voucher for another visit if you come in on your birthday.

thanks OP

I got a coupon in the mail yesterday from them for a buy 4, get 1 free graduation special.

Blech.. The San Jose one in Eastridge Mall is horrible - the worst asian food i've had since moving to the west coast. Everything is under-spiced (bland) and undercooked. Didn't bother trying the sashimi but the sushi rolls were almost stale... Buffets are rarely that good and I think this is one of the worst. Pay a few more bucks and go to a quality Sushi or Chinese place...

I am in San Jose.
The food in Todai is getting worse....yuck
At the beginning Todai is okay. Now I do not want to go to
Todai anymore. There used to have lobsters but now they shrink to shrimps now.
Also they put a lot of spice on the shrimps because the shrimps are not fresh.
I will not go unless they have the lobsters comes back.

Thank you for the coupon anyway.

You mean Sunvalley Mall in Concord, Ca

Thanks OP!! Great find!

The todai in Mall of Orange in OC is the best! Are any of the ones in Nor Cal good? Seems to cleared off Daly City, Pleasanton, Concord, AND Eastridge mall in SJ

GROSS - this should be known as "TO DIE"

The TODAI in Scottsdale, AZ gave a free birthday dinner, not coupon, as of May 24th. I saw the sign informing guests that they recently brought back the free dinners for birthday people. Didn't see/hear anything about a coupon.

Uni is my favorite! Just ask for it and they will make it for you

Sorry, your right Sunvalley Mall...and I know that. I don't know where I came up with "Sunset".

But, I always thought that it was in PH. I just looked it up and it is Concord! I better stop B4 I get strike three...

Second that. Selection in Portland was way better. Then again on the West Coast there is a ton of competition, which is often lower priced, in OC and the valleys there are AYCE sushi places with dinner prices less than $15 (may be gone up in last couple of years).
But for Chicago it beats the only other one I know of, in Nikko hotel downtown, which is pricier, but better quality.
I may go more often once Old Orchard opens.

Haha..can never pass up a "deal"...I went again tonight. Too bad I didn't see your post about requesting Uni! Anyhow, the food was pretty bad...worse than I remembered. The only good part was the desserts (and the $10 coupon). I still feel sick from overeating that junk. Hopefully the one in Old Orchard will be better (that will be only 5 minutes away from me too).

BTW, anyone have any suggestions on how to tip at an AYCE buffet like Todai? My total was like $68.xx and I gave them $6.xx to end up at $75. Was I too cheap? Too generous?

Is the one in New York good. How does it compare to East Buffet?
