Since this is the last day for the $50 rebate, I thought it was worth a repost.

There's also a 31-5033 RCAŽ RTD120 Home Theater in a Box System with DVD/CD Player on sale for $99.99. The rebate does not qualify for this one.
You can read manuals for all of these items on RadioShack.com by typing in the SKU.
Only one store in Montgomery County, MD had the $39.99 system, but they only had the speakers and were missing the 5x80w receiver . If they had the box, I would have bought it anyway and MADE $10 after rebate
Call your store and ask them to check stock in the entire district!
There are a few of the 31-5014 - RCAŽ HTS-3000 275W Home Theater System with 3-Disc DVD/CD Changer in the Maryland/Northern VA/Washington DC area. I listened to a display model yesterday and it sounded exceptionally good for $79.97 AR. The system supports Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic. The original price was $299.99.

Call the Bethesda-Downtown store at 301-986-8844. They had one open box, so, according to Radio Shack HQ, they should sell it to you for the after rebate price since they don't have a box.
If you want one new in box, you'll need to ask them if any stores in the area have it. I believe the Hagerstown store has one new in box, 301-739-1312.

Based on what others have been saying, they are exceptional for the price. For example, looking at the Cyberhome unit, how can you beat a progressive scan DVD player/dolby digital 5.1 receiver plus 5 surround speakers and subwoofer for $9.99 AR?
It will be a VAST improvement over your TV speakers, but don't expect audiophile quality. Check Radio Shack's return policy,..maybe you can try it out and return it if you don't like it.
I would expect the models with higher wattage and original price to sound better.

The rebate says one per person, household, or address.
If you get a display model and they don't have the box, the store should take off $50 from the price since you won't have a UPC to mail in. My brother confirmed this by calling Radio Shack headquarters, rebate department. If the store won't do it, ask them to call at 817-415-3200.
Do they make you give your name, address, phone number, birth date, shoe size and inseam if you pay cash? I already bought a system with my credit card and didn't have to give any of that. I could pay cash and use a different address for the rebate and get a second system.

Just call any Radio Shack and read off SKU's to them. They can tell you what stores in a wide area around them have the items. Many Radio Shacks will have these but as returns, so you might want to call first and make sure it hasn't been sent back.
I actually grabbed the HTS-6000 (31-5020 - RCAŽ 600-Watt Home Theater System 3 DVD/CD, 249.97) today. It's not bad at all, especially for a final price of $200.00. Also, in case anyone doesn't know.. you get a second year warranty if it's a dispaly item. It will print out on your receipt that you have a premium warranty, so hang on to that.
Also for people shopping -- I would beware of the 31-5016 650-Watt Receiver. You probably won't have any problems but a Radio Shack guy told me they had many of these brought back because the receiver burns out. There was actually a recall on the receiver, so beware of that if you pick this one up. Read the reviews for it on CC's website (RT2600) and you will see a bunch of people who love it but many who have had to deal with the receiver burning up.

Thanks to angryapple and OP! I called a local store that searched and found me the Cyberhome 31-5031 at a store FAR away. I called that store and they took my order over the phone and are shipping it for FREE! I just got a 27" flat tv from KMart yesterday for $65, so my whole entertainment system cost a whopping $75 AR + tax!

No, it's not the $39.97 one. He's looking for the $129.97 system.
I saw this system in Bethesda also,..I wonder what they did with the receiver.

Only certain versions were recalled. Here's the link to the recall notice. Make sure you check the serial number before buying!
just to let you guys know, RadioShack clearance items (these items are also clearance items) will further get 10% discounts this weekend because they're all discointinued. This is confirmed in the Southern cal area, in the los alamitos RadioShack
so can anyone give the highlights of this deal then? from the looks of it these are the good deals

However, they will not qualify for the $50mir which ends today.
Buy it today, send in the rebate. Then go back on the weekend to get the extra 10%.

31-5007 - you're not going to find this anywhere most likely, it's been gone/old/discontinued forever 31-5031 - i believe some people reported getting these, but since the reps can tell you who has them in the whole region, they're completely gone in most places. It's not the best in the world but it definetely is awesome for $10 31-5023 - pretty much the same as above

31-5016 - is the system with a receiver w/o dvd-player with decent wattage but has had many many receiver problems according to RS and customers but is a pretty good buy if you don't have problems 31-5010 - I bought the 31-5020 today and I saw the 5010 and wondered what the difference was.. apparently the 5010 has been discontinued for a long time (good luck finding it) and the 5020 has a better/upgraded receiver that also plays CDs in mp3 format.

Maybe if they let you Return and Rebuy.. I don't know if RS price matches clearance and it's highly doubtful that you'll find what you bought in stock still, but worth a try if they will give you the difference this way.

The 31-5014 sounded good for $129.97 before rebate. Original price was $299.97.

I saw it at the Bethesda Downtown location yesterday, floor model. I believe they said a store in Hagerstown also had it. Go into your local RS and ask them to check inventory in the area. Maybe they'll do it for you over the phone.
