With certain firmware hacks...you can get 4x Ritek G04's to burn at 8x. I've burned 25 of em' with no coasters.

I wasn't expecting this for another month or so. My 16X Pioneer DVR-108 got here Monday. Now I am wondering if I should have held out for this. Any reviews or comparisons of the 2 drives yet?

People...just hold on for a few weeks. as evidenced with the 2510A, that thing was dropping in price on a weekly, if not daily basis. Just hold out and it should fall in price as well.

I have heard that 16x is basicly the usable limit for DVD-+R. Anybody say otherwise? Woops, looks like I was a little to slow. I think I am right.

I've been waiting for this for a while, I cant believe newegg got it that fast. The pioneer is a bit faster than the NEC at 8x, but at 16x the NEC is better than the Pioneer. Plus NEC puts out frequent firmware updates.
