Easiest call ever! I called, said I wanted to cancel. I was immediately offer the $77 deal for 1 year, no royalty fees. I had a month left on my current plan, which they gave me a credit for, so it ended up being $69 plus change for another year of Sirius! Thanks everyone, love my Sirius, love it more at half price!

Wasted a bunch of time with the first rep who kept insisting on $142.50. Transferred to cancellations and magically got the renewal for $77! Thanks for all the posts!

rogbj said:Does anyone know if they have anykind of a la carte plan? I only listen to about 4 stations and would like a plan where I could pick 5 or so stations and pay $5 a month or something close to that. Before the merget, I read they were going to have something like that.

You have to buy a Starmate 5 Sirius receiver (~$100) for this. It is the only a la carte-capable receiver.

They do but you need a special radio. I believe there is ony one of each for Sirius and XM.

So it's true but not really. Just like they weren't going to raise subscription rates. They didn't but got around that by adding royalty fees and charging extra for XM Online...and the wheels on the bus go round and round.

The Sirius website has an a-la-carte package for $6.99 a month, which requires a special receiver (as ElJayL said). Personally, the $77/year deal is better.

I called and told them I wanted to cancel. Liked it, but too expensive. Was immediately told they would give me 1 year at $67.32 + 5 months online. Thanks Fat Wallet.

FYI my 5 month promo. They offered that to me again for $19.99 for 5 months + 5 months online free so I'm good to go until March 2010. Also they said in the future just call 1-800-998-7900 to get the cancellation department directly. If you forget you will be charged a full rate so put it on your outlook reminder!

Nice!

For the rest of you, if you're interested in the "$19.99 for 5 months" offer, you might want to specifically ask them about online access. (I wasn't given online access, and I presume it's b/c I didn't bring it up when I signed up for this 5-month offer last month.)

Yes that's right. I mentioned the $67 deal + 5 months online above and the lady said she could add the 5 months free to the 5 months for $20 deal. That's the best deal so far because you are talking about $4/month for the 5 month deal and about 5.60/month for the $67/year deal. You just have to remember to call again in another 5 months or you will get socked by a full rate!

Just called to renew my $77, but told them I wanted to cancel. CSR asked why, I said; "Too expensive" Was given $22.50 for 5 months. Which I think is $19.99 plus royalty fee. She did mention that if I call before it expires, I can get this same promotion, or a different one.

Just called, got 5 months for 23.05 a month. She would not budge on giving me the online access, but figured I probably would not use it too much anyways.

I re-upped pretty painlessly for $77... they never even mentioned the royalty, just $77 + tax, maybe because that was the plan I was already riding.

I just got my account renewed at the $77.00 plus $11.78 for Royalty fee, but be careful because at first they will want to sell it to you for the regular price, but all I did was mention the promotional price and the rep did it for me, good luck.

What plan do you get with the $77/year deal on XM?

I'm on a 3 month car trial. I should be able to get this plan upon expiration of my trial?

Just renewed a month before my 1 year Sirius contract expired for $68 total for another year with a $15 credit for the month I had left.

Went through cancellations dept and also got the basic internet streaming for a year included (which includes via Iphone app which I did not have before) SWEET! DEAL! Thanks OP

I would have renewed full price just to have Stern his Last year! Once he's gone bye bye satellite radio for me and I'm sure many others....

I hope Mel Karmazin is not reading this and it spoils the deal for anyone else.....
