I just cancelled my renewal that automatically applied, and they did not attempt to offer any kind of special, yearly or otherwise. Perhaps it depends on the customer service rep and how hungry they are.
Don't give up - we received 3 calls from CSR's asking if we wanted to renew our subscription since our 6 month free trial was about to expire. When I asked for the $77 plan, all 3 times, they said there was nothing available like that. 3 days before it was going to expire, I called the 800 provided in this thread, and behold - it wasn't an issue. It did end up to be like $91 but I'll take that over the $148 any time!
Just received 6 months of Sirius for $25, plus music royalty fee for a total of $27.44.
A month ago I received a promotion from Sirius (thanks to Fatwallet), for a free Onyx satellite radio plus 30 days of free service. With tax and shipping, my free radio cost $8.60 shipped. After the 30 days I was supposed to be charged two months at $25 each. My free trial ended tomorrow so I called tonight to cancel and return the radio. I casually mentioned to them they had just sent me a promotional email for an old satellite radio I used to have for 6 months at $25 and no activation fee. The person I was speaking to said I could request the same deal on my new radio. So he transferred me to someone else and I told him about the email. He put me on hold for a couple of minutes, then came back and said no problem, they can give me the same offer of 6 months for $25 on my new radio.
So for 7 months of service and an Onyx radio with a car kit, my total comes out to $36.04!! Not bad if you ask me
Two vehicles and XM Online for $160. Fourth year in a row, although I paid six dollars more this year than the past three ($154/yr.). Took around 45 minutes after speaking with the front line CSR and finally being transferred to the cancellation department. After a lengthy hold I spoke with a retention specialist (or whatever term they used) and she initially would only go as low as $188. I asked her to review where I had been and come back with a better price or I would not be able to renew. A couple minutes later she landed on $160 and I told her I thought that was reasonable.
I am a brand new subscriber as well. Used Vic Vinegars suggestion above, ended up with half off, 86.00 for select plus taxes, ended up being 100.56 per year. I will have to cancel at the end of the subscription or I will be charged full price Jan 2013

I got the CSR to take the auto-renewal off. He had to "talk to his supervisor" to do it, but he did do it without any push back. You might be able to call back and have them change it.
Mine expired on the 4th of January and I forgot. Called on Saturday and they gave me a year for $98. It was initially for 6 months. A little higher than the $36 I paid for last time, but still a decent deal I think.
I just got off the phone XM (1-800-443-6454) to re-activate my expired new car radio. I never renewed after my initial trial expired 3 months ago.
I told the lady that I never activated the radio as it was too expensive since all I listen to is one or two stations. A buddy at work had just renewed his radio for 6 months at 30 bucks and I could see paying that for the service.
She feigned ignorance of the deal for about 5 seconds then said that's right they do offer that. She set it up right then and there.
Total cost with RIAA fees was 32.87. BONUS: No activation fee for the radio even though it's been off 3 months.
Was on quarterly billing set to be billed to my credit card tomorrow. Called to cancel and was offered 1 year at $85.00 total, including all fees. Then she prorated it to the first of the month and somehow it came out to $73.00 total. Not a bad deal.
Around $28 for 5 months. Offered $101 for one year, but I balked so they gave me the five months offer. Had to go to cancellations department to get any offers at all.
I am a little confused. I called 800-998-7900 this morning and they guy is like who transferred you here. Is this the cancellation retention line? What should I have said to him? My subscription cancelled on Jan 6th and they are giving me 185 for a year (premier). Thanks a bunch.
I have an XM account for my wife's car, and I just got a Sirius Radio for christmas from my mum in law... After calling just the standard Listener Care number and only getting an offer for a multi-radio discount year subscription for around $166... I just called the phone number in the OP and got 107.94 + taxes = $122.28 for a 1 year Sirius Premier package.
$185/yr for Premier is an awful deal. Call 866-431-7474; that's the "Customer Advocacy Team" number. And even then, if you don't like the attitude of the customer service agent you get, thank them for their time, hang up, and call back to get a friendlier CSR. That's what I had to do, but it was well worth it (Premier for around $85 after adding in the required RIAA fee).
If i want the sirius premier (best of xm)package what price range am i looking at? I see a lot of posts about the sirius select $77 deal but what should i be telling the CSR and what price should i anticipate for premier?

The best Sirius Premier deal to my knowledge is currently around $105 (and I'm not sure if that's before or after RIAA fees). The only reason I got XM Premier for $77 was because several prior CSRs had so utterly mangled three separate accounts of mine for such a long period of time that a member of management in the Customer Advocacy department manually overrode the normal $105 charge on my account (something only management has the authority to do) ... and even I probably won't get that deal next year.
(Just FYI, since I've seen it happen before: You don't get MLB with Sirius Premier; the MLB still won't let them simulcast the XM channels. All you get is an MLB sports talk channel. Here's the list of what you get: )
I just got off the phone with Customer Advocacy. She wouldn't budge at all. 185 for a year of premier. I asked how to get a special and she said you have to get a flyer in the mail. Would not work with me at all. Frusterating
FYI - My Sirius subscription was up for renewal back in September 2011. Called up on my last day, and said I was cancelling cause I was trying to cut back costs. After them trying a couple of "offer" (including this one, which was tempting), I politely declined. Finally, the lady said she could offer me 2 months of Sirius for Free as a 1 time only courtesy just to get me to hang on to it to see "if the finances get better" in a few months (the finances thing is BS by the way). I said OK, since it was free (why not). One the last day of my free period in Decemeber, I called to cancel again. Again, they offered me some offers. Again, I politely declined, claiming the "cutting finances" angle again. Finally, they offered me another month for free. I said OK again. Called back again on last day of free period at start of January. Went through the offers again including the half price for a year one. Refused them all, but no free offer this time. So, I let them shut off the service. A week later, I get a phone call from Sirius telling me about a new promotion for 6 months for $24.99 ($27 total with taxes and royalty fees). Took the offer, and now I'm back on Sirius. So, that means, I now had/have 8 months for $27 (or $3.37 / mo)
So, to all those who are having trouble getting offers, call Sirius' bluff. They can offer you the half price offer (heck, they can offer you more, really, if you're willing to play hard ball with them). Just be prepared to shut off if they say no. But they'll call back...

I'd suggest starting a little lower on the totem pole. Call 866-635-5020, which is the regular cancellation/customer retention line. Go out of your way to be nice; just tell them a) it's costing you too much and b) the one channel you want more than anything else is Opie & Anthony (or NFL Radio, or whatever, just pick one), and you especially can't justify paying an extra 30% above the already-full price just for one station, and does he/she have any options? Hopefully you'll get someone more helpful.
BTW, just for the record (for all readers here): if the CSR doesn't have an American accent, you've reached the wrong department. I'm not trying to start a debate over outsourcing; it's just a fact that all the retention and "Customer Advocacy" agents are in the US. The overseas agents generally have no powers to offer any deals at all. Also, you're on the wrong line if you're still on hold more than 90-120 seconds after getting past the voicemail menu. When SiriusXM is dealing with a customer they're at risk of losing, they make sure an agent picks up fast.
Just got the XM Select 5 month promotion for $20. $21.78 after taxes.
I don't know why the CSR's can not understand how the multi-radio discount works. My second radio is $10 a month, so $120 a year. They keep offering the 1/2 off plan of $86 dollars which is off the regular price of $14.49, not the mutli-radio discount price.

Your first problem is that you did not read the original post...
REgular CSRs in Bombay have no authority to do anything. But, retentions in NJ do.
They autorenewed me yesterday. I called in today, asked to cancel. They offered 1 yr for $95, I refused. Asked about the 6 month promo, they gave it to me and came out to $35ish with fees. Not bad. Will call back in again in 6 months.
My one account just expired but I also traded the car lol. My new car doesnt have xm in it and was looking for the easiest way to install something. I would prefer not to have wires all over or and external antenna. I have seen several units but am not clear on how they hook up. Anyone have experience? Ive read about some that go through the fm channel but some through the existing cig lighter and some through a aux or din cable. Im confused. Please inform me.

I believe you can buy receivers that are compatible with an OEM stereo, that end up "out of sight", but they are hardly plug and play.
Here is an example of the product. It isn't cheap either, although I've never shopped for these. No ability to vouch for how well it works either.
I called the 800-682-4114 number and got the retention dept. Told them I was a new subscriber and had the contact info in an email from a friend online.
They got my info and started up with a $199/yr all access plan and I told them in the email from my friend it said: "Just got the half off deal for XM Select for $96/yr including taxes and RIAA extortion fees."
One moment please... another one moment please... then I got the deal. Very efficient lady from the midwest.

If your new vehicle radio is xm compatible, then what vicvinegar posted will work great. Otherwise, if you don't want visible wires, replace the headunit that either has xm built in, or is xm compatible with an additional hideaway xm receiver...
I just renewed no problems first attempt...Sirius Premier for a yr. $108 + Royalty fees of $8 and Sirius select for 5 months, $25 + Royalty fees. I kept on complaining that it's still a little too costly as i have several radios and she threw in a $10 credit lol...The woman had an Asian accent so not sure which call centre i called. Anyways, i'm pleased.
I just called XM to try to get the yearly deal once again (3rd year) but they said they could not do that for me. I was then offered the 5 months for $20 ($21.96 after Music Fee). That's a much better deal anyways, I will set a reminder to call back in 5 months to get another deal.

Called (retention department-1-800-998-7900) today (Sunday) to cancel. After some back and forth, I got 12 months for ($84.37/$7.03 a month)and the price included the RIAA extortion fee.
called back after last 1 year promo of $86 with online also was coming up due. The new offer was $95 for xm select and online small increase, I asked about throwing in best of sirius how much of an increase on that.
Total was $117 for xm with best of sirius in the truck and one year online access. Seemed good enough to me, all was very painless and I had a good american agent on the line.
