Have the shipping rates gone up? I've only started using them within the last couple months. Even with shipping, they almost always beat the competition.

The shipping has always been relatively high compared to the price of the parts but it's always cheaper than in-store pricing. My mechanic matches the Rock Auto price for me, so you can ask if they'll do it.
The shipping issue might depend on where you are. Here in the Northeast I have to order a lot of small stuff before my order becomes cost-effective. Ordering just one or a few items, or ordering heavy stuff, always ends up costing more than Amazon or 40% off of Advance Auto in-store pickup.
Some stuff never pays off for me, even if I add it to a very efficient order full of little stuff. Brake rotors...cheap ones might be $12 on Rockauto with $20 shipping, whereas AC Delcos might be $25 with free shipping on Amazon. Adding them to an efficiently shipped order just makes the whole order much more expensive to ship.

From what I remember it may also be possible to Pricematch at Advance Auto Parts etc. too.
I often find these days at RockAuto most of the stuff ships from different locations so there's no real savings on my part. I've had some great deals in the past but in the last couple of years I've found eBay has often been cheaper.

Usually I add the parts I REALLY want/need and then add the others based on if they ship from the same warehouse. Like air filter I don't really care about the name but my choice for oxygen sensor may be limited. Go back and swap a couple here and there and the shipping can change a lot.

Along those lines...they now have a feature that handles that for you. You can tick checkboxes next to a bunch of items then click add to cart and it will consider them all equivalent and choose whichever will result in the cheapest order after shipping is accounted for.
Just checked Rock Auto for a drive belt. Cost is $11. Shipping is $6. Another drive pulley sells for $7. Shipping is $2. Funny part is that if I added a 3rd item, then the shipping location of the first part changed, so that I now have to pay shipping from three locations for the three items...A, B, and C.
The belt and pulley weight less than 1 lbs combined, and Rock charges over $8 for shipping. Pure evil!

It's easy to get used to free shipping and see ANY shipping charges as evil, but someone has to pay FedEx/UPS/USPS to deliver the goodies anyway.
Over the years RockAuto were very sensible when it came to shipping costs. They now even have a feature that let's you specify that you need one of several interchangeable parts, and try to make a selection to minimize shipping. If you can figure out a way to split your order into two or more to save on shipping, by all means...
The interchangeable parts feature is nice. Had to replace an oxygen sensor on a 2002 Tundra . Dienso was $220 Bosch $135 and Walker $116. I would have never though about Walker for an O2 sensor. 5% savings made shipping free.

Looks like they're on nice bolt-on brackets instead of threaded in like a spark plug, I'm hoping that means it will be easy to work on. I assume those bolts or studs will break off though, it's a New England truck with 350,000 miles of road salt on it...
