Edit 4: Dead again. Link to other thread still here for dsicussion purposes.

Edit 3: This has come back to life in a new thread, here. Best to move there for current discussion.

One of the many Dell deals going on at the moment. Searched but did not find a thread specifically on this deal. This one is based on the 50% off coupon posted here by FatWallette. Coupon set to expire 10/22/04 11pm Central. Figured this deserved its own thread because that post does not indicate the coupon is good on the 1600n. Credit to kauai for pointing out in that thread that it does work on the 1600n.

Go to Dell SB through FatCash. Then make your way to this page. Configure as desired. Put the 1600n in your cart, regular price $399.00 (base options). Apply the 50% off coupon DMCJJ88?GR6KLV. See price cut to $199.50. Get $4 FatCash. Free shipping when I ordered, but had to pay tax. Ordered 2 for $423 delivered. Really a great deal for a network ready flatbed laser MFC.

Edit: If you're having problems getting the coupon to work, first make sure you are going to Dell Small Business. Then make sure you copy the whole coupon code, and only the coupon code -- no extra spaces or punctuation. Finally, try airtommy's advice:
The trick is not to get it by searching for 1600n. You have to click on Printers, then scroll down to Multifunction Laser Printers. This will take you to the customizable 1600n. Add this to your cart, and the coupon suddenly works.
Here's the page you want to start from to add the printer. The part numbers are different depending on how you get to the printer.

Edit 2: Edited instructions to make it more foolproof for those who don't want to read the entire post/thread. Hopefully will cut down on the it's dead/doesn't work posts.

Coupon did not work for me.

Tried again, works now!

Hmm, I might get one for work. PC World's review dosen't seem so great, it says slow graphics printing, and poor scan and copy quality:

PC World Review

Great price though, and networked.

Thanks OP! Iwas looking for something just like this

Good price! This unit was over $300 just a few months ago.

Thanks OP! In for one...

I can never get FatCash to work. Even when I turn off my firewall and Nortons I do get the pop-up but alway get "The connection was refused when attemptin g to contact service.bfasst.com".

I also always get thst click.synergy whatever garbage when people link .......refuses to connect most of the time.

Can somebody help me find the printer on their site? Thanks.

Great deal, ordered two for my work. Thanks OP.

Thanks OP, picked up one. Went through Fat Cash and it worked.

Could not get it to stack with my EPP deal. (BTW what is up with Dell and the EPP program, prices are almost always higher.)

-I have the same problem. Fat Cash only works about 1/3 of the time for me, I do not count on it for a deal.

finnally got it work, thanks op

I figured it out. The trick isn't FatCash.

I got a 15% off, but couldn't get the coupon to take. It acknowledged it, but didn't apply the discount. Any guess?
John

Hot deal , THANKS OP !!!!!!!!

I'm definitely in for one...don't need it......but its a great price and an easy profit on eBay if I decide to sell or keep it and get rid of my older Brother MFC

Hmmm . . . didn't put it in the OP cause I never thought about it. You described exactly how I ordered it. Will update OP w/ these instructions. Thanks!

Thanks OP! Got in on this deal.

I think it's dead now.

why does it suck?

Here is the
Link

By the way I have one of these printers and it works great and I payed 350 for it

I just bought another 2 there is no way you can get a network all in one for close to this price

Yeah, why does it suck?

thanks OP, just grabbed 2 for the office!

How much does the toners cost for this all in wonder?
I cant seem to find pricing on the toners anywhere
thanks in many advance

nevermind...found it. toner cost about $80

Anyone using this? reviews on this is satisfactory but for $199 shipped my trigger finger it itching

Thanks comprx.. I have keep telling myself how convenient it would be to have a multifunction at home, but kept procrastinating. At this price, I finally bought one... Good find. Tnx

I was going to pick one up, but the reviews are all over the place.

PC Magazine blasted it with a 1.5 out of 5 here.

CNET gives it a 7.5 out of 10 here.

As already mentioned, PC World gives it 3 out of 5 here.

I suppose the so-so reviews have to be weighed against the fantastic price...

It sounds like PC Mag's main gripe was the speed.... The unit fared better for output quality, with ratings of just short of excellent for text and good for photos and graphics. But the output quality does not make up for its performance, which is barely a match for the fastest ink jet AIOs we've tested. That makes the 1600n hard to recommend

P.S. Don't forget to get your USB Cables for a few dollars with free shipping...

I bought this for $330 6+ months ago, and it is perfect for home use. Not sure about standing up to business stndards, but it is amazing for home use for under $200. BE aware that the scanner/fax is not a network capable one. You need to do everything except printing via USB. Printing works great over the network though.

Does anyone know if this is dells own brand or is it a rebadged printer? It looks like a samsung all-in-one from the way the feeder looks. Also, can it do full duplex (double sided) printing?

The 1600n uses the Samsung engine. Also, you can tell by the front page loaders, they look identical. The Samsung engine is not up to par with the more established laser printers. But keep in mind that alot of the Zerox entry laser printers also use the Samsung engine.

On the plus side, the samsung toners are suppose to be very easily refillable. Do a google search for refilling toners for the Samsung (ML1740?, I forget the model number). Although, I don't have this printer and haven't tried it myself. Its something worth looking into once you get it.

Also, nevermind those reviews because those reviews are based on laser printers in the $400 range. I don't know of any other MFC laser printer in the $200 that has a paper feeder, network ready, 1200x1200 dpi printing. This is a very good deal.

Hhmm.. to get in or not to get in. Nice find op!

Never Mind. Read the FAQ. The FAQ is my friend. Changed the host file and it's all good. I got the 1600n with free shipping. I was going to get a 1700 for $109, but it was charging $23 in shipping, so I decided to order it separately. Now, I can't get the coupon to work any more. I don't know if it's one time use or I am a doofus or both.

Thanks a lot OP! I have been needing a laser fax at home for a while now, and this fits the bill perfectly.

Thanks op, I debated for a while and decided to buy this!

Thanks alot, 200 bucks for a 450 dollar printer, woot woot! Can anyone PM me information on how to refill this? I'd be grateful.
