Does anyone know of any reviews on this camera?

alert mods

3 yr warranty is pretty good.

alert mods

hot if ALDI is chinese for CANON

btw, 6mp cameras can be found cheaper than this. i think you are being sucked into the megapixels=quality state of mind

ALDI is actually Tibetan for FUJI... so close enough, now go get your ALDI

you can DL the manual for the 5.3mp camera here

It should give an idea of the functionality

Couple of things to read:

Traslated discussion from German...Although CCD probably, does not siund like a very good camera.

Excerpts:

"the Aldi Dc-6300 is identically constructed with the Minox DC 6311 and is in Wetzlar (Germany) manufactured"

Which lead me here:

Minox 6311 (in non-translated English)

So a couple of ifs..

If it is CCD and If the 6300 is the same as the 6311, then perhaps it is a decent camera...but somehow I seriously doubt it would be considered a HOT DEAL....unless you believe More Megapixels = Better Quality.

Since I am not in the Mega-pixel-centric camp, I would recommend looking a the Panasonic FZ1S that is just 2MP but had incredible optics.

I bought a 4.1 mp medion camera at aldi about 3 years ago.
It was not that great, and wound up breaking after about 1.5 years and only about 200 photos.
Now almost all the photos are green, or have mysterious green tint over various parts of the photo especially where there's light.

I suppose this is a totally diff camera though, so who knows...
Nice to know 3 year warranty, you might need it.

Same here. Ended up selling mine after a couple of months. Not great camera in my opinion.

You mean the paper photo's or the digital photos.

Photo paper has a shelf life of about 3 to 5 years, then starts to turn green/fade/etc

Although Kodak is working on 75 Years paper I heard somewhere.

I would be surpricesd if the digital images changed color unless the CDR are losing thier accuracy...but even then, that should result in unreadable CDs...

Looks like the kind Gateway used to sell as their "house brand." There were some odd functionality quirks with the one I tried using.

Of course, this post is all speculation.
