SO HOT! Even if the $500 is it, it's still good. I'm on my way to get one right now.

Is this worth buying and selling?

Seems like no one is selling these things, probably because if they're smart they'd get the rebate.

Just wondering.

i wish we have B&M OD here in MA

I just saw that and no return pretty much cemented me not getting this. its such a good deal too oh well

"Desktop computers, monitors, printers, scanners, faxes, handheld computers, and all-in-one machines must be returned in their original packaging and with all accessories within 14 days of purchase to qualify for a full refund, exchange or credit. Please note that Notebook PCs, LCD projectors, PDAs, Digital Cameras and opened software with their original packaging and accessories cannot be returned, but, instead may only be exchanged for the same item within 14 days of purchase."

CashBack for instore? How does that work?

Again, Can u buy it online and pick it up in store ??? or Do u have to buy it in store.. can anyone clarify this ?? anyone called OD yet ??

personally I think ths is much better than 700m. I have a 700m which i bought 2 weeks ago and i am not satisfied with its performance. The keyboard is very cramped and it gets hot. Yes it also came with a 60 GB 4200 rpm hard drive.

Sony's look great, and at 1400$ after taxes its still a great deal...

Guys, this deal is *SUPER HOT*. Cheapest price I've seen is $1699 AR @ Outpost, and that one didn't come with WinXP Pro (like this one does).

I tried ordering about 30 minutes ago, it's no longer available on the website. I called my local OD and reserved one for local pickup tonight. Please keep in mind that the $500 rebate is for in-store purchases only!

Also, the GPU is *not* upgradeable. However, the cpu/hd are. Also, one can add in bluetooth (just like on the customizable S270).

Good luck in finding these!

Thanks for the heads up OP!

Is it possible to buy online with coupon code, FatCash, advantage card .. and choose in pick up instore, then do a pricematch or a re-ring to make it sweeter?

darnnn... if i hadn't bought my IBM t42 or if i had missed out or gotten it cancelled, i probably would've jumped on this. although, i definately would hate waiting for all those rebates!

700M is a little bit thicker than this laptop. i think the keyboard is great once you get used to it. gets hot? you might have do call Dell support cuz mine doesn't get hot at all + it's silent and when the fan kicks in to get out warm air you can barely hear it spinning (it does it also for only short period of time)

I missed the T42 deal, and have no lappy now. Does it really worth jumping? 4 rebates for 850 bucks, that's risky.
And how is the lappy itself? Any negative feedback from current users?

I paid $1700 for an S series laptop from sony about a month and a half ago. I then spent about $450 purchasing upgrades for it. It's an amazing laptop...extremely light, great screen and very powerful. It'll play any game out there (well, mine with the 9700 will). Battery life is about 4-5 hours. I just got the extended battery, which is supposedly good for about 6:30.

i can't say for sure but from my experiences buying online and picking up instore it seems that you will not be able to get the instore rebate. cause even though you pick it up instore it's seen as an online purchase. you can do in store pickup option and put in cash as payment option. then tell them to ring you up. my 2 cents

Looks like some first time eBay seller is selling this VAIO and, looking at the pictures, hints at a bonus, as well!

Yeah I was just gonna buy this and probably sell it, but the risk, I'm not sure of. There doesn't seem to be much of an eBay market for these things.
