DaCurryman said: It'll void my warranty if I try and change the battery on my 3rd Gen right? I don't have any problems with it now...but just curious.
Also how hard is it to replace? The iPod doesnt look easy to open.
My 3g iPod started having battery shortening about 1 month after the 1 year warranty ended. I used to get 6-7 hours, now im down to 3-4. When it goes down more, i may pick up one of these batteries and do it myself. I think Apple charges like $75-$100 for it.
Yes, swapping out the battery in your iPod does void the warranty, but if you have an older one (1st or 2nd gen from 2001-2002) it is likely out of warranty anyway.
This company gives you a plastic tool for "cracking open" your iPod, and they have a pic of it on their main page shown with the listing for the 3rd generation battery.
The tool worked great, and they provided detailed instructions, too. There's also tons of places on the Web that provide even more detail and pics of the iPod disassembly/reassembly process.
I was very happy with these guys. Price lured me in, and the quick turnaround time from date of order to date of delivery was a nice surprise.
Not sure about the quality of the aluminum cases, but they are a lot cheaper than any of the other aluminum cases on the market. I think this is a relatively new company, as I found out about them late last week on a couple of Mac sites I frequent.
Thanx OP. I got the aluminum case for 3G - it's gotta be better than the old sock I folded over and sewed. [No, I'm not that cheap - I did get a good skin for it but my new car mount it must be nekkid and the skin was too difficult to wiggle on and off all the time]

as someone else asked, is the battery extended or same as previous battery life?
also, the shipping is free, so that makes it better!
