right here
You pay them $500 and they give you five years of service ($8.33 per month VS $9.99 per month). They have similar 2, 3, and 4 year deals.

Anyone else get their radio yet through this promotion ?
The website says the radio comes pre-activated, but the paperwork that comes with the radio says the units are NOT activated. A call to XM Customer Care says the radio is not activated.
They want $14.95 for activation and they have no record of my pre-paid 3 months of service.
The "customer care" rep says she can't find the promotion and can't give me my 3 months of service without a promotion code (which I could not see anywhere throughout the ordering process).
I've been on the phone for 30 minutes and still no channels and no resolution !
<edit> Okay, after 45+ minutes they finally figured out the internal promotion code they needed to enter for the friends & family deal (free activation and 3 months of prepaid service).
I hope everyone else's XM activation goes much smoother than mine.... </edit> |

XM has repeaters in NYC so you should easily get a signal. |

Did you find out what the code is so the rest us don't have to go through all this ? The rest of us could then just call in and give them the code.....
If the radio was activated, then you can go here and put in the radio ID once you have the tuner installed and working and that should get it going. Worked on the O&A tuner I got last month.
I checked my account and the new radio does not appear on there yet, so they may not tie this new one in like they did on the O&A order.

Just got my monthly e-mail from XM and it contained this unit for $299. Almost bought it but will wait a bit. |

I tried that before calling customer care, but it just gave an error (since the radio was not activated). |

I opened one of mine and did a quick hook up in my car and left it on ch 1. It never loaded any other channels (besides 247) so This will require a call I guess
I'll try to get things working at work tonight.
The new antenna sure is small |

Let us know how you make out. I got one to give as a gift, but it sounds like I need to slip it out of the package and make sure it gets activated before Christmas....

Sure will, I'll be on duty at 11pm and if I don't get anything else by midnight, I'll call.
I better double check their hours. |

Thanks for this great deal. I'm in for the Skyfi2 and the car kit. Just a quick off topic question. This is the first satellite radio system I am going to install. How do I mount the antenna on the roof and run the cable through the car? Any good websites out there or pointers from anyone? I'm a rookie, with no experience installing electronics in a car (if it's in a house, or a network I'm all over it). Just don't have much experience in the car realm. Thanks for any responses!

What I am doing for my brothers civic is mounting the atenna(magnetic) on the trunk. I will run the wire into the trunk and down the hinge. After that I will go under the carpet. I'll remove the runners to tuck the wire under the carpet. I'll run the wire up to the device. That will probably be the biggest pain of all. |

Did you READ this thread before you posted this question? Just a few messages up from where you ask this question is a post I made that contains I would never stick an antenna on my cars, I have always had good luck putting the antenna on the parcel shelf (of a sedan).. I would find it and read the rest of it before you go sticking an antenna on your car for no reason.

I'll try to find a couple of good installs and post links. Some people with pickups run the cable through the 3rd brake light and seal with silicon.

Calm down and have a brew
I agree lots of people have no problems running the antenna on the dask or back deck. I, on the other hand am an Amateur Radio Operator so I have no problem adding antennas to my vechicles
PS, My antennas aren't this big
Or this big |
