there was another $100 off rebate somewhere for this if you look.

Alright, for the lazy!! Here Is The $100 Extra Rebate for the M5405

The Best Buy $150 rebate requires copies only. The Emachines $100 rebate requires originals. Different addresses for the rebates so you are good to go. $699 plus tax is a great deal for this. Editors choice at PCMag in the last issue.

can be hot, also get back 50 gc from snail mail coupon

Looks very tempting....

Do you think the additional $100 rebate would work out?

The $100 is direct from Emachines, why wouldn't it work out? It even says Valid at BestBuy on the dang thing. Link to review

Man, if this works out, this is BLAZING hot deal!!

950-150 BB Rebate - 100 EMachines rebate - 50 GC

$ 650!!!!!

Its an awesome deal!

If you got the AMEX bestbuy my wishlist certificate, you can get $150 instant gift card if you spend $600 or more.

So

950-150 BB Rebate - 100 EMachines rebate - 50 GC - $150 BB gc

$500 Maybe?

sounds nice~ but emachines desktops are ticking time bombs... how will this laptop hold up in a year or two?

Smoking Fajita hot @ $500, even if you have to deal with the Devil.

Poor misguided fool.....

Why does this link to "www.edealinfo.com" first and then to Best Buy???

Don't do it. I repeat don't do it!!! THe last thing you want to buy is an Emachines.

I have the m5312 which was sent in for repairs 4 times because of a simple over heating problem. The first time I sent it out it came back and it wouldn't operate on batteries anymore. Worste of all it came back all banged up missing rubber feets that they refuse to replace and told me to just go buy some at Rat Shack. do a search for emachines forums you'll find a few out there and many many people including myself have bad experience with Emachines. Their tech is ok but they charged my card for 75 bucks and refuse the refund. Never saw my money again. Very long story, bottom line is Don't buy an emachines you'll regret it.
On a positive note, if you want to test your luck with Emachines, the M5312 was a pretty good system (when it was working) not sure about this one though.

if you have something to say about his opinion u can do it without insult.

How do I find AMEX coupon? I am looking through the my wishlist stuff, is it "Spend $600@ Best Buy coupon that I am looking for?

I've used these before & handled them extensively - they have many of the same components (and sometimes better) than your HPs, Toshibas & Dells.

In fact, the keyboard of this unit is better than the Dell 600m that I'm typing on right now.

As far as I am aware, Emachines, just like most of the other brands get other OEM products and simply put their name on it.

My M6810 is a good case in point and is manufactured by Arima who also makes the same notebook for the likes of Voodoo PC at twice the price - admittedly with a 128MB vs 64MB Radeon 9600. Is that extra 64MB worth $1400 though?

There will always be a few lemons produced - and that's true for any manufacturer.

Ticking time bomb?
Hold up in a year or two?
You *MUST* be refering to Best Buy.
NOT emachines
for example:
Best Buy executive meeting, future date of March 2005:
-BB exec stooge #1:
"Well, it looks like our sales initiative of Barry & Jill has failed miserably"
-BB exec stooge #2:
"Yes, it indeed has"
-Brad Anderson, head BB exec stooge
"If the sales associates would have followed my plan more closely, the program would have been a resounding success. In fact, it was successful as we lost the 20% of customers we didn't need"
-BB exec stooge #1
"You must be referring to the Devils, aren't you?"
-Brad Anderson, head BB exec stooge
"Yes"
-BB exec stooge #3
"Mr Anderson, pleasure to see you today....I have seen the future Mr Anderson...and it is one without you here"

LOL...I love the Matrix. Looks like BB will end up like Agent Smith unless they get their act together. Unlikely though

Now eMachines is a whole other story!!

i dont know about u guys, but i got a snail mail bb coupon, it saids, get a $10 gc for every 100 spend from dec 1 - 9
max 50 gc...

How does this compare to a Pentium M notebook in terms of speed and performance?

stevesomething said: How does this compare to a Pentium M notebook in terms of speed and performance?

I am an AMD fan but I must say a Pentium M owns this sempron...

stevesomething said: How does this compare to a Pentium M notebook in terms of speed and performance?

Faster on some apps, slower on others, but a worse battery life.

Great processor, though. And loaded.

Lets be realistic here....AMD SERIOUSLY over rated the Sempron CPUs. This CPU only runs at 1.6ghz with 256kb l2 cache and they rated it 2800+....NOW WAY is it near 2800+ performance...A 1.6ghz Pentium M will walk all over this sempron like its a joke...

Benchmarks confirm the semprons being WAY over rated by AMD...

the amd xp ratings were pretty accurate... a pity that amd is abusing it now

ram is expandable only to 768MB, isnt that a tad low by today's standards? 60 gig HD wouldve made me happy 2 years ago, but feels like 100+ gigs is what I need these days.

Whats wrong with you??? Who the heck is going to put a 100gb+ HD into a laptop????

Heck the HD will cost more than the laptop with your thinking.....

This is a hot deal. I have the emachines 5310 and it's one of the best notebooks I've used. Bought an HP before that and the massive software bundle, slow speed, and no wireless card made it go back to CC.

At $699 - $50 snail mail gift card (received this over the weekend) - $50 reward zone = $599 AR. Hot!

uhhh, yeah, about that $50 gc.....where?
