It's keyboard is a new experiment..... anyone using it already would like to comment ?

alert mods

Yes; 7100t could be used as a USB modem connected to a PC/laptop. It's slow, though, much slower than dialup.

The keyboard does take a bit to get used to. The SureType system is supposed to guess the resulting word that you're typing and continues to learn based on what you previously typed (as well as referencing your address book for contact names). Some prior Blackberry users who are used to the full QWERTY keyboard might not like it. Some new users say that it's better than any predictive text input systems offered by other phones.

wow, i was really contemplating between this and the sidekick2. Definitely going w/ the blackberry with this deal. However, I'm just a bit concerned about venicom. Is this a legit site? Is it a subsidary of tmobile?

alert mods

here's an article on venicom's deal

looks legit to me... but possibly ONLY for venicom's agents

Great deal for a Blackberry, and I've been very happy with TMobile since switching from AT&T. Provided the keyboard is more user-friendly than it appears, this could be a very hot deal.

smells like advertising to an old timer here....

Has anyone else been successful in getting this deal? I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning but just hoping someone can validate this deal before I take the plunge.

I went online to check my CC, Shows as 229.99 Venicom INC.
So I guess we really can get more than one. Now I just have to wait and see if i get "both" rebates.
I was told I should receive it by Thursday. Seems a bit long for shipping, but
I guess I can't complain.

Karmalou what do you mean by advertising smells?
I don't work for that company if that's what your implying.
I've been a lurker forever and thought I'd contribute for once, Most times I find something
and by the time i come to fatwallet there's already someone else that posted it. (Which is not such a bad thing.

I've owned the 7100T for about 3 months now. I needed something that could sync my calendar and contacts to my mobile phone easily and with little hassle (unlike my previous Motorola v300). After reading a very favorable article from PCMag Link I decided to purchase it.

All in all I am very happy with my decision. The phone syncs very well and all the contacts, calendar and tasks from Outlook 2003 is retained exactly on the 7100T. It has a fairly intuitive layout and the QUERTY keyboard with Blackberry’s version of predictive text is so much better than the Motorola. I wouldn’t be surprised if more companies mimic the 7100T in the future. The screen is large and clear and does not smudge much when you press your face to it. I have not tried the Bluetooth on the phone but I am looking to purchase a good Bluetooth headset in the near future. Any recommendations?

As for the telephone functions itself, it is very clear and the speakerphone is quite good. T-Mobile’s range in the DC area is pretty good and their customer service for me has always been top notch. I’ve had service with AT&T, and Sprint and found that T-Mobile’s range is as good or better.

Although I rate this phone positively there are some cons. The phone is large. It fits in your pocket fairly comfortably and has a holster for carrying at your waist but the phone is larger than its competitors. Some people may be turned off by its size. In addition I have received two java script errors when operating the phone. I do not know what caused the infrequent errors but it has required me to completely reboot the phone and they were gone.

All in all I rate this phone highly. It does everything that I need it to do and more.

I have been trying to call since yesterday non stop and always get their voicemail...any idea?

Just to confirm, you have to subscribe to both the Voice (min $39/mth) and the Data ($20/mth) subscription to get this ?

(could the Bluetooth be used for a Laptop to connect to the internet with ?)

Thanks

@shley

Trying to decide between this and a PCCard Modem for a laptop (Cingular has their PCCard FAR (limit 10 per household) ... but unlimited GPRS/EDGE is $80/mth)

albrandwood: Yes, you do have to subsribe to both. (Voice & Data)
I 2 w/ family plan but I only wanted one to have the Unlimited Data.
They told me in order to get the rebate i would have to subsribe to the data on each phone.
;-(

Guess I can always change that later, I hope.
Anyone know if i can switch plans afterwards? Or do i have to restart the clock on my contract?
BTW, They didn't mention a contract, so i'm not sure how long this is for??

nope.

some say the phone is crippled.

others say it's for the security of a business oriented device.

either way, bluetooth is for headsets only.
