WARNING: Some of these freebies require additional purchases (eg. Tax Software), product activation or proof of upgrade. Make sure to read all rebate requirements before purchase! See the Quick Summary below this post for more detailed information that might be provided by other FatWalleters.

Need a rebate form? In most cases go to http://image.ak.outpost.com/art/rebates_pdf/xxxxxxx.pdf where "xxxxxxx" is the outpost item number. Sometimes you may need to add _1 or _2 etc. after the item number as there may be more than one rebate form available. Fry's is notorious for not updating their website with the latest rebate form. Often you will need to need contact them and ask them to email it to you. You can also contact them via this online form., just substitute the item number in the link (5427539) with the item number you need. You may also want to let them know the dates of the rebate form that you are requesting since often Fry's has multiple rebate forms for different dates.

UPDATE!!! Fry's has recently changed their rebate URL's to http://images.frys.com/art/rebates_pdf/xxxxxxx_zzzz.pdf where "xxxxxxx" is the item number and "zzzz" is the last date of purchase (eg. 0529 or May 29). As always, you may need to add _1 or _2 etc. after the item number as there may be more than one rebate form available.

EVEN NEWER UPDATE!!!! Fry's is now showing the link for your rebate form when you go to ORDER TRACKING and view your order. Many rebate houses are no longer accepting the invoice included in the box. To be on the safe side go to ORDER TRACKING, click on your order and then click on PRINT FOR PROOF OF PURCHASE. Print this out and submit as your receipt as needed. You might want to send both the invoice and printed receipt just in case.

Be sure to read the rebate form before ordering to make sure there is no an additional purchase requirement. If the rebate expires 4/15 then the odds are good that it requires tax software be purchased on the same receipt in order to get the rebate.

If you forget to save or print the rebate when ordering, go to Track Your Order on the frys.com website and you will see "click to see rebates" for each item. Your rebate forms will be found there.

Nice post. Be sure to check rebate terms - several required an additional purchase such as Turbo Tax or Tax Cut at Fry's.

Microsoft Money 2005 Standard only has a $10 rebate. More Outpost.com rebate trickery...they have a habit of listing after-rebate prices when the rebate has expired, or listing wrong rebate amounts.

Word of warning about Versacheck... rebates take forever, and they never send them out unless you call and complain (not a free call either). Personal experience talking here (I was warned by FWers, but didn't heed it). They do their rebates internally.

Others also complain Versacheck has deducted the value of any coupons used, even though they were retailer coupons (didn't happen with me).

Plus, many banks don't accept checks using Versacheck, unless you outfit your printer with magnetic ink. Others report their bank refusing to accept them, as they have to be processed by hand when printed without magnetic ink.

Probably not worth the hassle.

Ditto similar warning about banks not accepting checks with "American Checkbook 7.0."

I think they just don't have both rebates listed. There *is* another one which will make it FAR if you purchase taxcut. You can submit *either* the $10 or the $29.99 one, depending on your qualifications. Outpost just doesn't have it listed, even though they have their price adjusted to (apparently) account for it, and, of course, they are failing to mention the second qualifying purchase required.

Many of these rebates are *not* outpost rebates, so whether outpost is good or not at their rebates has no relevance for those products...

If you go to Staples or Amazon (for example) you can find the universal rebate for for the combo purchase of any money product and taxcut.

There is no tracking website. You have to call the phone number on the rebate form. If no number, then find their general number on their website.

I just realized what a complete rip off SiteMaker Pro supposed software is. You pay $50.00 for a disk that all it does is connect to their website, only to be told it's a temporary trial and you have to pay a monthly fee in order to actually use anything......

I think all or at least most of these deals are also at Fry's. For Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3 Disc Creator to be free, you need an upgrade from DVD Movie Factory 1, 2 or 3 Standard Edition or Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator, Ahead Nero or Sonic MyDVD with a copy of the copyright page.

I bought this. Has anybody tried it? Any experiences to report?

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3 Disc Creator works great. I use it to author all of my DVD's from MiniDV camcorder and old VHS tapes.

I prefer to edit outside of the software and just use this to create the DVD compliant menus, etc., then burn with Nero.

There is better stuff out there that is significantly more expensive but this creates some nice looking DVD's for the price, IMHO and as always, YMMV!

I also like the Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3. It has most functions enough for general application needs, but simple and easy to use.

If you bought the NEC ND-3500A dual-layer DVD±RW drive from the recent FW deal here. It is included as application software in the driver CD. Make your $50 deal even sweeter, what a deal
